andrew1957 In the last 9 seasons - which is largely the period over which the big 5 or so clubs really started to dominate the PL - the points to avoid relegation have been as follows:
In 7 seasons out of 9 - 38 points has been enough
Of the other two once you needed 39 and once 40.
So 38 should be enough most years, but 40 has been safe every year since 2002/3.
So 6 wins and a draw should do it for Reading.
