NO LONGER A RUMOUR - Gorkss out on loan

by pea » 28 Jan 2013 17:05

Looks likely if we can bring a defender in by Thursday.

He's going (back?) to Blackpool

Would we need another defender in? We have Mariappa, Morrison, Pearce and Carrico can play there. Who would we get?

Carrico can play there but his favoured position is CDM. Sporting Lisburn fans said they doubted he could play CB in the Premier League. Just opinions of course. I liken it to putting Bryn there.

I thought he was a cb but we were going to try and play him as a cdm...

He doesn't look big enough to be a good CB. But then Mariappa isn't a giant.

Rumours suggest Warnock is after him on loan.

Still good enough to make an impact in the Championship, you would think. Warnock obviously regards him highly at that level too, so this wouldn't be a surprise at all.

Gorkss out on loan (or sold), paving the way in for Curtis Davies?

My POTS last year and he will forever go down as one of the signings that made a huge immediate impact culminating in winning the Championship.

Unfortunately he has really struggled in the prem and it's probably best for both parties if he was allowed to move. Whichever Championship club gets him will have made an awesome signing.

One of those players who's a bit too good for the Championship, but not quite good enough for the Premier League.

Yep, thats why QPR shipped him out… has been a good servant for the club, he'd do well in another prem chasing championship side good luck to him

I think the only way of this happening is if we think we can get a better deal for Davies now (due to Brum's financial position) rather than any other time, which is probably dependent on whether the interest in their other players becomes anything more than interest.

As for Caricco, think we've only ever seen him as a midfielder in this league and will be surprised if we see him line up in defence. Still a possibility of Sunzu coming in as well

Whoever gets Gorkss in that league will have improved their squad in my opinion. Apparently Ian Evatt is injured for the rest of the season hence the Blackpool link, we'll see.

Carrico says he prefers a central midfield role to defence.

OK - that's fair enough. Can you tell him that we would prefer it if he were fit and playing?

Both of those are looking unlikely. Sunzu not happening in this window and Davies not happening at all, but we did make an enquiry.
