The other relegation contenders - how are they doing?

How do we want this game to end? villa win? Newcastle win?
I'd settle for a draw. A win for either could be a catalyst for a decent run.

Match abandoned, massive brawl, 22 injuries and points deductions all round.

loss could be the thing that galvanises the team to never let it happen again

A draw could be just be the thing to make them think they're on the right track

A draw could be the result that makes them think "fcuk we needed to win that, we're in the shit now."

A win could make them complacent.

Absolutely needs to be a draw. We want the teams around us picking up minimum points.

If I had to plump for a winner, I’d rather it were Newcastle on the basis they are more likely to turn it around & get out of trouble whereas Villa look in deep deep doodoo.

If we stay above Wigan and QPRofl we only need to best one of these, so any result is fine as one of them will drop at least 2 points

Concentrate on winning our own games, ignore everyone else

A draw would be the best option for us, minimum points for two teams around us.

Newcastle win as a draw with Chelsea will see us out of the R-zone. But a draw is also plenty nice.

Agreed - and one point out of the whole equation that neither of them will get.

You're never too good to go down, but you've got to believe with the squad they've got, Newcastle will stay up comfortably in the end?

Villa on the other hand...

I think a Newcastle win would suit us. Start driving those nails into Villa's coffin, at our expense. Especially since we're playing Chelsea, and on balance we're more than likely going to lose - though I believe we can get something out of the game.

Newcastle have 2 hard fixtures after this one (Chelsea and Spurs ?)so if they lost they would be in even more pressure to bed in so many newcomers very quickly.
On balance I would prefer a flukey Villa win-not a good enough performance to inspire confidence but good enough to drag Newcastle into the mix.

Thank you. We’re all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view.
But I like you. You remind me of when I was young and stupid.

A draw - keeps both in touching distance

Obviously a draw would be preferable, but would also take a Newcastle win as I'm not convinced they'll be struggle as badly in the last throws of the season after their transfer activity.

As I've always said, don't worry what others are doing, just concentrate on our own results
