Stoke City (A) Predictions

by Royalclapper » 07 Feb 2013 12:20

Always a tough nut to crack on their own patch. Their form at the Britannia Stadium this time is P12 W5 D6 L1.

A point would be decent, three would be exceptional.

1-1 Adam for them, Pog for us.

Stoke is a #tptg and we are due a loss. 1-0, Wayne Biggins elbowing home a long throw.

Will go for a home-crowd-boo-inducing 2-1 to us...Harte free-kick, Crouch equaliser and ALF off the bench to win it. Unoriginal, but who cares?

Stoke will be going out to avoid defeat, on the back of recent poor form. We'll go 4-5-1 and be mostly on top without ever really creating any chances. Pog will have a tough physical battle with Huth and Shawcross, Stoke will have 10 men behind the ball at most times with Crouch up on his own and with the ball hoofed to him will get no purchase from Pearce. Nice physical game with Ledge and Akpan running the midfield. We'll bring Alfie on midway through and he won't get the supply he needs.

Nailed on 0-0 for me*.

*but if either team nicks it I can see it being them, by a single goal, from a corner

1-2 - Pog, Walters, Leigertwood in that order. Stoke haven't won a league game in 6, and the slump in form will continue against us.

This would be a good game to change the format up front. Pog toiling away alone will simply be absorbed by Stoke's defence and we'll go nowhere. I'd actually like to see Hunt start somewhere in the mix to keep them moving about more than they'd like.

1-1 ...er, Hunt?

just reading about that &:
The top three teams from each group advance to the World Cup finals, while the 4th place team advances to an intercontinental play-off.
its a group of 6 teams FFS! most of them really poor.
ridiculous that we have to struggle to qualify when teams like this get the easy route
