Brian: The right decision?

by Man Friday » 11 Mar 2013 18:49

Personally, I think this was the wrong decision.
Still, at least we might find out what the investment situation is. Did Brian have funds or were they very limited? If the latter then any future manager will be equally stuffed.

Di Canio IN

Brian was just a nice guy championship manager who never learned from his mistakes, not a manager to take us to the top 10 in the prem (or at least make it interesting). Can't wait for Di Canio (the greek guy will do). Just not creepy adkins

Sorry Brian, but you were out of your depth. Thanks for the good times

Not now. Don't see what the new guy come in could do? End of the season, yes. Build from the Championship.

If its Di Canio than never in a million years will be the right decision.

If my booing contributed to his sacking and Di Canio coming in, then i'm very happy to have made Reading's future better. (Sorry Brian, but you were out of your depth. Thanks for the good times).

One thing's for sure, the next nine games are unlikely to provide the evidence.

If it is Di Canio - I look forward to saying "I told you so" when you all start bleating about him, which will be sooner rather than later. :x

Don't understand the love for an unproven manager/part time Nazi

Because they're idiots basically.

As i said, if it turns out to be Di Canio I'll be fooking gutted - but I'll be pretty angry too that they obviously had decided to get shot of Brian, whatever the result had been on Saturday. McD appeared to be one of the nicest men in football - good luck to AZ dealing with the ego that is Di Canio - amongst other things....

Extremely bad timing,

I hope we don't turn out to be another Wolves who have gone into free fall since the sacking of McCarthy towards the end of last seasons campaign.

No successful manager is nice. Mourinho, SAF, etc. Even pep spied on his players with detectives. Niceness doesn't equal success

Right but wrong time

McD shows he struggles when put under pressure. When we were winning then things were easy for him - the team picked itself.

What a laughing stock we have made ourselves look . Will be a laughable stock if Adolf di Canio gets the job.
Sad (and unnecessarily so) day for RFC and its true supporters.

Just when you think the season couldn't get any worse - Brian gets sacked and now people are saying Di Canio is in the running to be next manager, not only saying that he might be, but actually calling for him to be manager!

It's hasn't been easy to be a Reading fan for 46 years, but it may well be impossible for me to carry on supporting any club who appoints a dyed-in-the-wool Nazi as manager.

We are a laughing stock already.
Did you not see MOTD taking the pizz on Saturday night.
I give you a team that cannot defend and players that randomly fall over

Unfortunately I think it probably is the right decision for the long term good of the club.

I think it's probably got to the point where McDermott and his one-dimensional tactics might have reached the end of the road both in reality and in the trust and preception of the players.

Sometimes managers, like players, have a shelf life at a club. It's only the very good that can sustain (relative) success over a long period of time and they have to be able to move with the times. I'm not convinced McDermott has shown us he can do that.

Will the next appointment be the right one? Will they be successful? Only time will tell but irrespective there is a very strong case that getting rid of McDermott, and doing it now, gives us the best chance of rebuilding in the way the new owner presumably want.

well the poll is so far showing support for AZ, you have to be ruthless to be a club owner, sentiment doesn`t come into it, BM was completely out of his depth in this league.

Surely Di matteo ahead of Di Canio? and Adkins ahead of them both. Can't understand why we'd want Swindon's dirty socks...

This. We owe Brian a HUGE debt of gratitude but this isn't the time or place for sentimentality. As i said on Saturday, if we'd fought the Falklands with Spitfires on the basis of the fact they did well in WW2 we'd have been fooked. I don't agree with how it's been done but i can't totally disagree with the decision.

I have the same cold feeling, never been so distant from the club in an emotional sense than I am today!
