To be honest I'm just relieved it's not going to be di Canio.

Now it's confirmed and official that Nigel Adkins is the new Reading manager , let's just all wish him the best of luck . There has been so much said before the appointment good and bad but now we get behind him and wish him well . I think personally it'll be next season before he can hopefully prove his worth , but though I confess I've thought him smug in past past I now give him my full support .

I think now he is here we should rally behind him and give him the full RFC welcome - sitting down quietly, booooooing at the first misplaced passed and an embarrassing 'blarmy' attempt that fades out almost before it has started.

For the pedants he is being confirmed at a press conference at 9-15. So technically he isn't confirmed, you were right & can go back to your IT job

Will back him 100%. Personally don't think he is much better than McDermott but he got Southampton playing well so can't be all bad. Agreed this season is gone so it's a good time for him to oversee the players for the remaining games and look at the weaknesses we have.

Welcome to Reading FC Nigel, hopefully another 3 years of success!! :D

Best option out of those available & certainly better than Poyet or Di Canio. Looking forward to next season already!

At the very least, he'll hopefully get the team playing a better style of football. If he achieves the unlikely miracle of staying up that's grand, if not he's a decent choice for Chamlionship level. And he may come across as smug, but at least (for me anyway) he'd had have to go some way to be as smug as a certain Mr Pardew (the level by which I'd judge all smugness on my smugometer).

Not the appouintment I wanted but what the hell, I support Reading football club and he's the manager now so he gets my full support. I particularly look forward to him taking out some sort of angry revenge on Soton in 10 days or so

If he runs across in front of the Southampton fans in airplane style when we score the winner against them then I am fully on board.
