HRK to sign new 3-year deal

by TBM » 08 Jul 2013 10:26

Hal Robson-Kanu is set to end speculation of a move away from Reading FC by signing a new contract with the club.

A source close to the Welshman confirmed exclusively to getreading that the player is on the verge of signing a three-year deal this week.

So it seems when HRK said the other week he was in discussion over a new deal, he wasn't bullshitting

Does this mean he'll play regularly - if so, down the right?

Good news. Would expect he had some kind of reassurance about first team football.

Nigel Howe the contract negotiation king.

HRK: nige, I've spoken to Alex and he says if you tell the press about aspirations to play in the top league, you get a new contract?

NH: we have got seven wingers for next year, so you might just be sitting on the bench. What about your aspirations?

HRK: my agent says Anton will pay more than John?

NH: yes

HRK: .......

NH: I'll put it on the OS

ddetisi Nick Hammond the contract negotiation king.

HRK: Nick, I've spoken to my brother and he says if you tell the press about aspirations to play in the top league, you get whatever ridiculous wage demands you want?

NH: we have got seven wingers for next year, so you might just be sitting on the bench. Here's our offer, how are you worth more?

HRK: My brother says loads of clubs are after me and you'll be lucky to keep me, so you should pay me more.

NH: :|

2 months pass

HRK: Nick, can I have that contract now please?

NH: what about all those other clubs?

HRK: .......

NH: I'll put it on the OS

I can assure you there'll have been plenty of clubs looking at him.

Very pleased, my most improved player of last season.

I reckon he's a starter but in a central role behind the striker maybe. Drenthe down the left for certain. McAnuff seemingly looking more and more like a sub with something to prove, unless McCleary loses favour on the right over the summer.

Adkins played wingers on the opposite wing last season, think he liked them coming inside with their stronger foot. Can see HRK playing on the right.. Caused havoc at Fulham playing in that position.

Surely, until anything is confirmed, and not just by an 'unnamed source close to the player', then this is a rumour?

Not going to start ahead of Drenthe, McAnuff, Kebe, Pogrebnyak, Roberts etc.

They've just said on Sky Sports News that Hal's new deal will make him the highest paid player at the club :|

Surely that's not right?

Would be ridiculous if true. obviously one of, if not the most improved player but not on those sort of wages.

"among the highest earners"

Won't be many on much more than 25k a week following relegation, so that would be my guess, with a hefty payrise on promotion.

Drenthe down the left for certain, yes on the M-4 catching the first plane to Amsterdam for a weekend party, with him and sick note Kebe, Jobi will be kept busy ,great news HRK has signed in the next few years could achieve legend status.

Seeing as Lees pay their top earners around £10-12k and Yeovil considerably less, our wage bill must be massive in comparison.

Wonder where we'll stack up next year as those with the biggest budgets. Be interesting if we don't go up and FFP kicks in.

ZacNaloen "among the highest earners"

100% said it would make him the highest earner, re-wound just to make sure! I'm sure it's just gossip, as I can't see him being on more than Pog & Guthrie.

Let's hope if he plays up front he curbs his tendency to be a little selfish.

Now be fair, Reading FC have have had a high wage bill for the champhionsip for some time, it's the main reason we've had to sell to buy. No room to maneuver in the budget. This will be no different to when we last came down from the Prem. Big attempt to get back up first time (although we'll actually have two seasons of decent parachute payments this time, so maybe we'll have two seasons of paying high) and re-adjust after that.
