Cape Town Royal Forgive me if this has been a thread before, but wondered who people thought was the best 'local' (as in Reading/surrounding area/Berkshire)' player to come through the Reading youth system...
For me, I would say Neil Webb, because not only did he look brilliant for Reading when he first came through (all be it in the lower leagues) he went on and played for both England and Man Utd so had a top career beyond Reading (before he... well you know.... got larger.....)

Another great shout. There are of course, subjective views on a subject like this. You can't really compare players form different positions and different eras also.

My subjective view is that you can't really consider Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, local to Reading.

Thank you Tim Dellor. Every time he scores for Arsenal he mentions that like it's something we should be proud off, that our hopeless scouts failed to pick up the most talented player this county has ever produced.
