Team for Barnsley (A)

by St. Brynjar » 29 Sep 2013 13:22

They're low on confidence, we're rocking - they should be there for the taking. Supposedly McAnuff & Blackman are back in contention with Drenthe, Legs, Williams, Karacan and Roberts all out. I'd like to see this:

------------------------McCarthy------------------------

Gunter---------Morrison-------Pearce----------Bridge

McCleary-------Guthrie---------Baird----------McAnuff

-------------------Pog------------Sharp-----------------

Subs: Feds, Kelly, Gorkss, HRK, Akpan, Alf, Blackman.

4-2-3-1 could work with HRK in the hole but two strikers shouldn't be a problem.

---Williams--Baird--Guthrie------

---------POG--Sharpie-------------

I'd go with the same as Sat but Kelly for Gunter & Sharp for Alfie.

May as well keep some legs fresh for Burnley...

Either same team.

Or because it's away a change back to 4-3-3 with:

.......The same back 5.
..Baird..Guthrie..McAnuff
McCleary...............ALF / HRK
.......... Pobrebnyak

"Jobi trained for the first time on Friday, then on the pitch after the game on Saturday so we're delighted with that and all being well he comes into contention for the next two games."

"Hal got a bit of cramp late on against Birmingham, Garath has a nasty gash on his ankle so he had to come off as well."

"Nick Blackman had a swollen knee in the week, I'd like to think he will be somewhere near [being available] come Tuesday."

"Royston and Danny have foot injuries, I'm not sure about them [for Tuesday]. I've got to make sure with tough games that everyone is as fit as possible."

Providing McCleary, mcanuff and hrk are okay:

Few changes to keep players fresh for saturday but nothing major.

------------McCarthy
-Gunter--Morro--Pearce--Bridge
----------Guthrie--Baird
McAnuff--------------------Obita
-----------Pog-Sharp

Federici, Kelly, Gorkss, Hrk, McCleary, Alf and Ugwu.

Why swap Gunter for Kelly when Adkins likes offensive wing-backs? You lose that with Kelly. I also don't understand the dropping of Le Fondre either when he's pretty similar to Sharp, and Sharp isn't close to match fitness? A sub appearance on 65 minutes would do nicely though.

Don't rate Gunter at all, fair enough he may be more offensive but he is meant to be a defender something he can't seem to do well as well as pass the balls which Adkins also wants to see. ALF could well start and bring sharp on agree with that

Agreed!

Although McAnuff won't walk back into the team, I suspect he'll lsoe out to Blackman or HRK, perhaps Adkins will see this as an ideal fixture for HRK to be given 90 mins to rescue his season.

Can't wait for this one.

Jobi has played well when he's started for us this season, whereas HRK has just stuttered along somewhat. I think Mcanuff deserves a start in a 442 on the left.

Mind you, if the cut on McLeary's ankle was deep, then he may not be fit anyway. In which case, HRK on the right and McAnuff on the left.
