Team for Charlton (H)

by St. Brynjar » 30 Nov 2013 14:55

I'd imagine Nige would want to keep it the same but the loss of Gunter means something will have to be a bit different. I'd like to see Jobi, Sharp and Royston play but it's a bit unfair to dislodge a few players after a great performance last night.

I expect this:

Subs: Federici, Cooper, McAnuff, Drenthe, Akpan, Le Fondre, Sharp.

Which leaves us pretty weak on the left, and our defensive options are down to the bare bones. Could potentially go 3-5-2 with McAnuff and Obita or Drenthe operating as wing-backs, and if needs must Leigertwood can fill in as a CB. Get well soon Bridge, Baird & Morrison.

Why choose Kanu when he's yet to have a full good game? Prefer to see Macanuff in the hole

I don't particularly rate him but he was part of a team that won last night. And note the word 'expect' and the fact I said I'd like to see Sharp play.

Can see us sticking 2 upfront at home, so ALF or Sharp coming in for HRK who was subbed fairly early. Not sure if we'll Cummings at LB or maybe Jobi.

Fcuk it, weaker opposition so lets go for it, get some time on the pitch for Drenthe and bring him off at HT if need be.

Our starting line up would be so strong if it wasn't for all the injuries. With them all back I can see us making a good fist of it in the new year.

In place of who? Adkins wants this 4-2-3-1 to work and that doesn't even allow our top scorer to play!

I'm yet to be convinced about him. He had a couple of outstanding halves last season, one against United, but otherwise it's only been fleeting moments. I don't really see what he brings to the team playing behind Pogrebnyak; but it's a lot better than Blackman getting a game, so don't criticise too loudly.

Robson Kanu shows enough to suggest that he is a genuine talent but it is shown so sporadically I don't really see he why should be an automatic starter once injuries return (unless of course he improves fairly dramatically). You can't keep playing someone on the basis that they are very good 15 per cent of the time. His public statements seem to indicate that he believes he is far, far better than the evidence suggests.

Def two upfront at home against anyone in this league. We arent in the prem now and should not be scared of anyone and take it to them at home.

Cummings has been mr dependable before, playing out of position in the playoff at Cardiff, so stick him in at left back if he is fit.

Give sharp a start because robson kanu has been very average this year after being one of the few positives from last year.

Cummings should cope ok, and Sharp will probably come in and link up well with Pog so HRK will miss out. Unless we are playing in one of those veterans tournaments that Sky used to show in the summer that were full of short-legged players with big tummies I wouldn't bother with Drenthe.
