THAT Charlton Song

by SPARTA » 04 Dec 2013 12:44

Catchy and loud, something we don't have and I would welcome. I know a lot of you Y25/26ers always decline to copy a chant, but that is kinda the idea. 99% of football songs are copied or adapted from other fans.

How about we adapt this one? I thought the Charlton fans were brilliant. There were 800 of them and they made a great noise! Credit to them!

How did it go?

"When I was young, dun dun, I followed my club, dun dun.. the R-F-C.. dun dun, dun dun, the team for me, dun dun, dun dun, woooaooooooooo..."

I hate song threads and I apologise for adding to them, but this is a good chant and we don't exactly have many/any of them, and we could do with upping the noise levels at home.

Heard the new song Royals by Lorde in the car yesterday, very simple and catchy, instantly thought it could be reduced and adapted.

Nice song.

Anyway, why did we never manage to make Sweet Caroline our own?

Would be great if we could copy a song like this one ....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVXnnLsodf8

Shouldn't even be that difficult as 'Lebenssinn' (meaning of life) can so easily be replaced with 'Rea ... e ... ding' ...

Think we'll even see that - losing 0:4 and all our fans on their feet singing like that? Not in my life time.

Charlton song was one of the worst I've heard in a long time. The relentless dirge contributed to one of the least enjoyable 45 mins I've ever spent at the Mad Stad. If the ast Stand Massive replic8ed that. I'd be wearing headphones every game.

If we want our own song, it's all about "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

Reading and new songs just don't happen. We've had the same chants for absolute years now. Our support is shit. I've just accepted it now.

The problem with adopting a song, Any song is that the Scoreboard/PA guy/STAR will take something spontaneous and turn it into something plastic..... For example, the spontaneous "URZ" chant when the windmill appeared during the opening credits on the big screen, They now make it look like we're doing Karaoke by flashing "URZZZZ" up on the screen. I don't want a song sheet forced into my hand, I don't want words on the screen and I don't want music being played or the PA guy encouraging me to sing along and don't get me started on the drummer.

Now, on a positive note - Did anyone notice the Reading fans in the South Stand were singing/chanting quite loudly last night?
