Refereeing

What does everyone think of the refereeing this season?

Not suggesting that we have been victims, in fact I actually think we have been given some soft decisions.

But I still feel they're very inconsistent.

The overall standard of refereeing is without doubt a lot better than it used to be. Their mistakes are highlighted more these days with camera angels everywhere and players cheat a LOT more. The game is generally harder to officiate as new rules get introduced and the speed of the game gets quicker and quicker.

Always makes me laugh when I see post match comments like "The Ref was poor" after every game. I think its the people in the stands who really don't have a clue. Half of fans in the ground seemingly don't understand the basic laws of the game.

The standard of refereeing has been very good IMO, very rarely do we see an extremely poor ref even if we do like to have a good moan about them on a regular basis.

My frustration though has been with the inconsistency, and I don't just mean between different refs as that's in part only natural, but sometimes during games you see the same ref taking different actions for what we perceive as similar incidents (eg allowing a defender to hassle a striker, but as soon as he gives something back he gets pulled up for it).
