PotS(so far) - 29 games in?

by Ian Royal » 08 Feb 2015 22:52

So seeing as some people seem to be getting their knickers in a twist on the BFTG, who's your player(s) of the season so far? Pick up to three contenders.

Stat based MotMs from Whoscored.com are:
Norwood - 5
Cox, Hector & Obita - 2
Pearce, Williams, Murray, Cooper, Pog & Cummings - 1

HNA voted MotMs:
Norwood - 7
Blackman, Cox, Pearce, Mackie & Murray - 3
Federici, Hector, Pog, Cooper & Kuhl - 2
Gunter & McCleary - 1

DISCLAIMER FOR THE STUPID: The above are not my stats and do not necessarily reflect my opinion.

Definitely not Federici

I'm kidding SADman. For the record I like Feds and so far he probably deserves it. Not that there's been much competition mind. He almost deserves one for his services to the club in some ways.

I voted for him, Norwood and Cox and that's probably the order I'd put them in so far.

Voted for Norwod, Cox, and Federici.

I don't think anyone really has looked like a POTS contender. Norwood's mostly the default choice. I've rarely come away from matches in the last few months thinking how glad I am that Norwood played, but at worst he's been a bit quiet. Not sure Clarke likes using that sort of player - his favoured pairing at WBA was, iirc, Yacob and Mulumbu - but if the season ended tomorrow then he'd be my pick.

Cox is our top scorer (?) and one of our main goal threats.

Federici has got back to his best form in the past month or so. I wasn't convinced by him under Adkins, thought he might be letting in shots that McCarthy would somehow have saved, but equally he didn't make (m)any howlers.

I can see one of Pogrebnyak, Mackie or McCleary staking a real claim over the next few months if our form remains good, else Pearce or Obita might claw their way in there. Obita isn't a bad call actually, he hasn't put in any amazing performances but he also hasn't done badly very often and might become the "default" pick if Norwood remains out of the side and the attackers don't hit form.

Pretty much agree with that SCIAG. I disagree in that I think Obita's rarely lived up to last season and has put in some poor performances as well as plenty of solid ones.

I can see Williams staking a claim, maybe Hector too to add to yours. Probably not Mackie though.

Looking like similar to last season. A few will put in short runs to look like being a contender but ultimately it'll go to someone who has been solid throughout.

Chalobah coming in may well have scuppered a sure thing for Norwood.

Feds today but reckon Williams will have a chance if he keeps playing like he is.

Unquestionably Federici for the number one spot, and a fairly clear second for Norwood in my eyes. Third is a bit more tricky, but i'd give it to Pearce. Since Adkins left he's instantly become the player he was from the promotion year, and if anything looks more assured, mature and confident with the ball.

Federici is the only person who has played the bulk of the games and who's performances have consistantly been better than average.

The only one I was sure of when voting was Feds really.

If there was ever a vote to abstain from then it would be this one.

I voted for Feds and McCleary but my prediction for the eventual winner is Hector. He has always shown composure on the ball and is now cutting out the errors which marred his early appearances this season. With growing confidence and maturity I reckon he will be a very good player for us!

Federici, Pogrebnyak and Robson-Kanu have been the best since the season started under Clarke.

Tbf, he's been our stand out performer in the last ten games or so. Before that it would've been Norwood. In ten games time it could be Hector/Williams/Pog.

Yeah, he's not put a foot wrong in the last few games I've seen.

I'm gonna keep blowing Hector's trumpet. He could be a really big player for us for a long time.
