Resting players against Watford

by genome » 10 Mar 2015 22:15

Who else would be willing to basically throw the game against Watford?

The first team could use a rest, most important game of the season two days later, we'd likely lose anyway, and we look safe 13 points clear of the drop zone.

Clarke would never admit it but I expect to see a fair few rested players.

13 points clear, absolutely no harm now. That win is pretty much everything we needed league-wise; rotate the whole thing!

Don't mind them resting a few, but as I am going I would like to see the resemblance of a team so we are not too embarrassed.

I wonder if the boss is going to play Kelly at RB away, for the extra defensive nous,
then play Gunter-McCleary at home for the extra options in attack?

Think Cooper should play again, good experience and has played well
every game except Birmingham away. (Long term I'd like to see Coops
in the back four with Hector as our DM. I still think, long term he - Hector -
will be an awesome defensive midfielder, good in the air, good in the tackle,
but able to break through midfield and use his ball-skills without leaving
a hole in the back line.)

Doubt Chalobah needs resting so would hope he stays at LB for another game.

I would rest Federici. He hurt himself in the previous home game when he made a blinding tip-over.
Last night he seem to re-injure himself (shoulder or top ribs?)... A game-break would help, esp
as the result at Watford is not crucial. Also help to keep Andersen sweet.

I WOULDN'T rest Mackie or Blackman. Play Mackie as long as he's on fire, he brings
spirit to the side which is infectious. (If we had 3-4 working as hard as him we'd be top 8
at least.)

I worry that The Yak isn't getting a lot of time. We might still need him. Would start with
Tuesday's team (Andersen in goal) and bring The Yak on for Mackie on the hour mark

Absolutely we should be resting the majority, if not all, of the side that will start on Monday night against Watford.

Has the benefit of seeing whether Chalobah's good game at left back was a one off, how Obita would do replacing HRK with them working together whilst not playing too many inexperienced kids.

Personally I would rest virtually the whole first team squad so they are ready for Monday.

I still think we could put out an interesting team but play a defensive 4-5-1. Might get battered but worth the risk.

Andersen

Keown
Knight
Cooper
Travner

Three of Akpan/Guthrie/Kuhl/Karacan

Stacey or Edwards
Taylor
Cox or Yakubu

I am sure we would be in big trouble wth the FA if we made wholesale changes. It would be very unfair on the other top clubs fighting for automatic promotion.

A few changes would be acceptable though especially as a few were rested last night.

The best eleven, COULD, easily, lose 4-0 at Watford.

If we put out a total "second eleven" we COULD get dicked 8-0

And, no matter that we tell ourselves it didn't count,
we'd be all over the news and going into our million pound
game in shock

No issue at RB Kelly or Gunter (the other one on Monday.

Chalobah should be totally fine, ditto Cooper, so rest Pearce for one more game

Akpan is fit and fresh, no probs there...
