Yep - he'll be off next summer if there is no promotion.

Played well today (before his red), like a man who'd suddenly been motivated by a massive pay rise...

Obita seemed to get forward a lot more, attack his man and try get ball sin early. Looks to have a good partnership with Quinn already

Quinn isn't a hug the touchline wide player so Obita had a lot more room to get forward i thought. However the majority of their chances came down our left when Obita was too far up the pitch and the diagonal ball played in behind him caught him out too many times.

It's good to reward his performances with a longer contract, and also to ensure we get the best price for him if we have to sell (the same goes for Hector).

I think he has the potential to be a very good full back. He has natural attacking tendencies and good pace, and age on his side to mature.

This season is when he will have to mature defensively. He is clever and reads the game well, but he needs to make sure he attacks at the right time so he doesn't leave too many gaps behind him.

I'm also suspect of his tackling (I didn't see Saturday but from what I've heard it was a shocker) and would like to see that coached into him a bit more. Again, he is young enough to mature into the role and the next couple of seasons are where he can really kick on.

Compared with some of the more cynical challenges by the Espanyol players, this tackle, though potentially dangerous, was more as a result of over-zealousness than anything else. The reaction of the Espanyol players exacerbated the situation.

That's a good summary of Obita, certainly with regards to his tackling, it's no surprise he picked up 10 yellow cards last season.

Obita had the worst discipline record for us last year with 11 yellow cards. That's got to get a bit better. Still, he stopped a cross in his last outing which is better than Chris Gunter managed ever.

If he continues as he has I doubt he'll be here next season.

Who in League One are you expecting to buy him?

Obita's problem is two fold
1. He loses concentration
2. He makes poor decisions
These 2 lead to him being caught out of position too often and his stock response is then to foul his man. Ferdinand was shouting at him all during the Espanyol game and I think he could be a huge influence on Obita. If he can sort out those 2 then he can go far.
His red card on Saturday was 100% down to bad decision making. He should not have been making any kind of tackle there, let alone a 2 footed one.
