Team For Birmingham (a)

by SCIAG » 02 Aug 2015 21:50

Injured: McCleary, Pogrebnyak, HRK, Stacey, Cooper, Sweeney

I'm torn between two teams:

5-3-2: Bond; Gunter, McShane/Keown, Hector, Ferdinand, Obita; Norwood, Williams, Quinn; Sa, Samuel
Subs: Al Habsi, Keown/Hyam, Owusu, Tshibola, Fosu, Blackman, Cox

or

4-4-2: Bond; Gunter, Hector, Ferdinand, Obita; Blackman, Williams, Quinn, Fosu; Sa, Samuel
Subs: Al Habsi, McShane/Keown, Norwood, Tshibola, Owusu, Taylor, Cox

I'm not keen on Sa as a lone striker. I'd be quite happy to go with 4-3-3 but I'd want Samuel or Blackman as the striker.
Not too fussed on the goalkeeper. If a new winger comes in fighting fit then my preference would be 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 with him ahead of Blackman.

-------------------Al-Habsi------------------
Gunter--Ferdinand--Hector--Obita
----------Norwood---Tshibola----------
Fosu-------------Williams--------Quinn
------------------Blackman-----------------

Subs: Bond, Keown, McShane, Taylor, NEW SIGNING, NEW SIGNING, Sa

Don't think Sa has the fitness to start, and Blackman has had a good pre-season.

No Pogrebnyak or McCleary is really bad news.

Sa's not fit yet, Fosu is not ready, Tshibola faded badly although started well. Not disputing your line up but pointing out how weak we are especially without Macleery and Pog. Unless we make a couple of great signings this team looks like relegation candidates already.

Seriously?

Can't see it. I think we'll get a lot of clean sheets this year. If we don't do well it won't be because of a leaky defence but due to a lack of goals.

The CBs look very solid with Hector, Ferdinand, McShane, Morrison, Keown, and I fancy Obita for a big season.

The central midfield looks strong with Williams, Quinn, Norwood backed up by Tish.

I just can't see us even remotely near the bottom

^ This. With no more signings I can see us short on firepower, but I can;t see us finishing any lower than mid table unless we get horrendously unlucky with injuries.

What's the record for the most consecutive 0-0 draws?

No. Red cards in friendlies do not carry suspensions.

Can't see playing Fosu on the wrong side being a good idea.
