I think he will give Sa a rest, he put in a decent shift today.

No Hurtado until after the international break. Needs to get fitness levels up .

Don't know who will play but Hal Robson-Kanu is likely to start.

Liburd has 2 in 2 for the U21s.
Stick him up front.

Largely agree with PO. Think Liburd should get to play with two proper wingers though, and I'd rest Ferdinand rather than McShane.

Al Habsi; Gunter, McShane, Hector, Taylor; Stacey, Norwood, Tshibola, Alex, Fosu; Liburd
Subs: Bond, Keown, Kuhl, Quinn, Hurtado*, Blackman, Cox

*or HRK or Sa

I'm expecting to lose this one. Anyone else? That being said I think he should stick a complete reserve side out

Regarding Liburd, this is exactly what a few of us were discussing at yeterdays game. He may be inexperienced, but at 22 he isn't particularly young. I would have liked to have seen him on the bench yesterday. He could just have made a difference if he'd been given the last 15 minutes. He may be raw but appears to have an eye for goal.

If you were Steve Clarke and were trying to persuade the owners to stump up some serious cash for a new striker, playing Liburd would be a risk. If he did well, then the owners could say "See, you've already got your striker, so we're not funding another one." So I don't expect to see him near the first team until the transfer window has closed.
However, I hope I'm proved wrong.

Ridiculous.

If he plays and plays well the manager will be delighted; a signing of his is a success and he can now play him in bigger games and still tell the owners that, although his low risk, low money signing won't play a full season, he is an example of how well he will spend their money...

would love to see Liburd get a run out. Can't see it though, given Samuel didn't even get a start in the last round.

I think part of the reason was that we were trying to get Sa's match fitness up so a round 1 game against Colchester was probably an ideal time to give him minutes.

Not inconceivable that the same logic could be applied to the desperate need of him getting his first goal.

Fosu and Liburd both started for the U21s tonight.

Bumped into Alex Fernández there too, really nice guy. I expected the squad to be in Portsmouth already, but he said he would be involved.
