Burnley (A) prediction thread

by Libertine » 24 Sep 2015 06:12

Good test for us, away to a side in excellent form. I think it'll end up 1-1 but there is a chance we could nick a 2-1 result in this one. A lot of good sides in the league this year including this opponent. I wouldn't be unhappy with a point out of this one.

EDIT: For the record, the scorers will be;

Vydra
Unfortunate OG

First game of the season for me and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Blackman.

I'm going to go for a narrow 2-1 defeat with us having the majority of the ball / more shots etc etc

Don't know but I'd take two draws from our next two games

Important that we stay in touch with the Boros, Derbies, and Burnleys

That's good then, I've learned to trust your judgement on footballing matters.

Very much hope so, and WD or DW would be good too. I mean only that I want to see us building another, longer league- undefeated run. The victories will come, I'm sure

Interesting that Burnley have played much the same teams as us so far.

They put away Wednesday and MK Dons, while we didn't and gained a point against Derby. But they lost to Ipswich, who we thumped and both of us beat Brentford and Bristol.

We average better in - goals per game, possession, pass accuracy (by a lot), shots per game, tackles per game, dribbles per game. But we've got much worse discipline and worse results.

According to whoscored, Burnley's weaknesses are possession, avoiding offside, defending the wings and in the air. But they're very strong at direct freekicks and other attacking set pieces.

We're apparently very good at defending set pieces and creating long shots.

I think we'll nick it 2-1
Vydra and Williams.

We score 3 in the first 15 min. Vydra, Blackman and Mcleary.

Barton gets sent off for head butting Williams.

Attendance 18345.

Two top teams, I can imagine it'll be a tightly fought contest with not many goals. Given the optimism following our recent performances against Ipswich and Everton, I'd have to plump, for a narrow 1-0 victory for the Royals. Goalscorer: Matěj Vydra.

Burnley haven't looked great in the TV games I have watched.

Feel like we will take this 3-1

I can see this as being one of those horrible away days. We start brightly, create some good chances then, against the run of play, Burnley go 1-0 up with their first attack of the game (around 30 mins). Then, we push forward but cannot get a break through before 2 quick fire goals on 65 and 68 minutes put us 3-0 down and therefore ending the game as a contest. We will pull a consolation back on 87 minutes to make the final score Burnley 3 Reading 1. Hector for us.
