Blackman For England? POLL

Blackman for England? Or unwanted attention to alert bigger clubs. Thoughts?

Nick Blackman is, apparently, eligible for

Barbados
England
Poland
Netherlands
Israel

Yes it would be good to see him make the England squad but unless he's running into 25+ goals and we get promoted by the end of the season he won't be anywhere near selection

Most likely he's going to attract the attention of Barbados or Israel in the short term. If Reading do manage promotion, or he moves to a PL club in January/next summer, then there might be a slight possibility of attracting interest from the other nations so long as his form continues.

He isn't eligible for Israel. He represented the UK (or maybe England) in the Jewish Olympics, but he has no connection to Israel. His grandmother was taken in by a Jewish family when she was orphaned during the war or something along those lines.

Blackman for England would be the most bizarre to have happened during my time supporting Reading. I don't think it could happen before World Cup qualifying. Realistically, he's still a long way off players like Walcott, Sterling, Chamberlain, and Lallana, and it would be surprising to see him called up ahead of Lennon, Albrighton, Downing, Johnson, etc.

If Sa gets injured, he becomes our main striker, and hits 30+ goals, and there's an injury crisis amongst the forwards, then maybe, but he's still up against proven PL players like Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck, Kane, Berahino, Vardy, Ings, Lambert, and Crouch, plus Walcott and Sterling. I know a few of those have injury problems already, but it's hard to see us struggling to put a squad together.

He'd probably be best off just playing for Bermuda, but if his form keeps being this crazy for the next two years then he'll have played himself into contention like Vardy and Ings did. Mind you, I'm still half expecting someone to reveal this is all an elaborate hoax and he's actually still shit.

Not suggesting the OP is remotely serious but you could be a Cardiff fan in 2010 talking about Jay Bothroyd there.

SCIAG He isn't eligible for Israel. He represented the UK (or maybe England) in the Jewish Olympics, but he has no connection to Israel. His grandmother was taken in by a Jewish family when she was orphaned during the war or something along those lines.

It was suggested that the Grandmother having adopted the Jewish faith and Blackman himself being Jewish would entitle him to an Israeli passport, which would in turn entitle him to represent Israel internationally.

jews can move to Israel under the Law Of Return, then after 1 year they can apply for a passport.

There's a website called Jew or not Jew and it rates him as 7 out of 10 for Jewishness but also describes him as the only English born Jew to play in the Premier League.
None of which makes it likely he'll play for Israel any time soon as he doesn't qualify on any grounds.
