Chelsea youngster Lucas Piazon is wanted by Toronto police after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The Brazilian attacker – who is currently on loan at Reading in the Championship – is a suspect in a sexual assault investigation alongside international team-mate Andrey Da Silva Ventura.
Both were in Toronto in July as part of the Brazil under-22 team which competed at the Pan Am Games.
The incident is alleged to have happened between July 25 and 26, as confirmed by police inspector Joanna Beaven-Desjardins at a news conference today.
According to police, the female victim was sexually assaulted by two men against her will while asleep in a bedroom.
It’s a shocking allegation which will no doubt dominate headlines around UK football over the coming months.
Ventura is an unknown Brazilian goalkeeper who has played just once for the Botafogo first team.
But Piazon is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge having played three times for the first team and had spells at Malaga, Vitesse, Eintracht Frankfurt and, most recently, Reading.
Police inspector Beaven-Desjardins has asked anyone with more information to contact police, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
