Surprising stats

by andrew1957 » 02 Feb 2016 22:24

Just pointing out the stats and not making any points as I am pro Brian and believe he will turn things round but.....

RFC have not scored more than one league goal in the last 12 Championship fixtures. The last time we scored 2 in a game was 2-1 v Bolton on the 21st November.

In fact we have only scored 8 goals in those 12 games. People blame the keepers but that is ridiculous as we have not really conceded very many (only 15 conceded in the last 12 games - and 8 in the last 8 since Brian took over) - our problem has been lack of goals up front.

We now have less points than at this time last season.

After 29 games last season we were 13th with 37 points, whereas now we are 16th with 35 points.

Last season the players gave up on the league and concentrated on the FA Cup and we only got 13 more points in the last 17 games - ending up with 50.

I wonder if this season will just be a repeat of the last one. If so we might at least have a trip to Wembley to look forward to!

Falling coconuts cause about 150 deaths annually.

You'd like "Freakonomics" I reckon andrew1957. Bit of an American bias but there's loads of good stuff in there.

There are 35-50 active serial killers in the United States at any given moment.

This one from AE today is my favourite of late

stealthpapes After 9/11, a considerable number of americans stopped flying and drove across the states more. The increase in car accidents killed more people as a result of choosing the car over the plane than died in 9/11. .

might give freakanomics a go sometime

One thing is our utterly appalling away form in the league.

Since the start of season 2014/2015 :

Played : 38
Won : 8
Drawn : 9
Lost : 21
For : 40
Against : 67

So, goal wise, we actually manage to score a goal a game away from home but unfortunately let in approx 1.5 goals a game.

In those 38 games we have kept 6 clean sheets and failed to score in 10 ourselves.

Our last 10 league games away from home sees a record of

Won : 0
Drawn : 2
Lost : 8
For : 7
Against : 18

and no clean sheets kept in that time (only one league clean sheet away from home - at Bristol City)

Our last away win was at Burnley on Saturday 26 September

This is, of course, is relegation form (0.87pts per away game) so only our outstanding ( ) home form is keeping above a relegation battle currently.

On the bright side just 5 more wins (approx 1 in every 3 remaining games) should see us clinch survival.

I was on holiday for the brizzle and Burnley games.

I haven't seen us win away since oxf*rd Brentford.

Said it last season and I'll say it again, I wouldn't be totally against relegation (won't happen though), loads of great away days and makes a change from the shit in this league.

I knew, just knew, that the prospect of a cup final would excite you.

Indeed - I really enjoyed the Wembley day out with the daughter, her partner and grandson. I know we lost but it was an enjoyable day and we were do close to getting to penalties.

It made a really crap league season seem worthwhile. It looks like another crap league season tis time too - so I can only hope for a repeat of the Cup run.

If you exclude Hector's against Derby at the end of last season.
