Squad Number 48?

Hi Reading Aficionados,

Was wondering if anyone knows who has the squad number 48? Can't find any reference to it on the Reading site.

Only reason ... I saw a lad in full training kit with that number on it in my local gym ... looked committed to his training. Can't work out who he is though.

Any help appreciated.

Squad Numbers this season have been a bit of a strange one, the club have been reluctant to 'officially' publicise a complete list, to the extent there was a bit of uproar when the likes of Fosu and Stacey weren't given a number at the start of the season

However, the EFL Trophy requires squad numbers, so despite the lack of any coverage from the club the following youth players have been allocated....

Josh Barrett - 29

Jake Sheppard - 35
Jack Stacey - 37
Liam Kelly - 38

All those players have been involved in 'professional' matches so far this season whether it's League, EFL Cup or EFL Trophy. I'd imagine there are a few numbers that have been given out but not been published, so No.48 that you're looking for will be an Under 23 who hasn't been involved in those competitions yet this season

I Googled him back then but could only find that he'd played Under 18s county football for Middlesex, and he since made the bench for the game against Bristol Rovers

Speaking of which, our club's coverage of the Academy has been utterly dismal last couple of seasons, barely even a mention that you can watch our U23s tonight, let alone a team sheet or some reporting. This is on top of no information on certain players like Mr Vancooten

Slightly off topic but Darren O'Dea used to wear 48. He was 48 at Celtic, Reading, Ipswich and Blackpool and probably other clubs too. It's funny how some players like to take their numbers with them.

Not particularly interesting but I sat next to our elusive No.48 on the train home from Reading the other day, he was in full training kit, and looked quite old

Anyway there's an updated list with all the Academy squad numbers the club don't tell us about

I believe the numbers extend throughout the Academy, I regularly see young kids with 172, or 137 etc on their tracksuits.
Perhaps we could start an I-spy style page and see if we can complete the set ?
I have no,idea if players get allocated a number when they join the Academy and keep it while they are at the club or if each age group has a batch of numbers which get passed on.
