Confimred: Azeez to Millwall

by Stranded » 03 Jul 2024 10:39

THe fabled All Nigeria News Twitter account are reporting that Millwall are in advanced talks to sign Femi Azeez.

Absolutely no idea on how accurate they are but posting it here as that's what this forum is for.

I would imagine our owner will gladly accept a small bag of magic beans in return.

Imagine we will try and hold off as long as possible in case a takeover actually happens but if it doesn't we will sell esp as he only has 1 year left and barring an unlikely promotion, will most likely move on next summer anyway.

Yep, pretty much agreed with this. Also, would imagine if an offer north of 7 figures comes in, they'll accept.

Latest is Millwall have apparently been told unequivically that Azeez is not for sale and have moved on to other targets.

Another sign that the ownership crap coming to an end?

No.
Hasn’t Dai rejected offers for other players previously ?
And if a sale is in sight wouldn’t he be more likely to want to cash in on assets while he can ?
Unless a buyer already has effective control…..

Dai used to reject offers for players when he had the money to do so, which was pure stupidity at times (i.e., Liam Moore).

I think with all the tidying up going on something is happening.

That is rumoured and hasn't it already a matter of record from some at the club that Dai has not taken a penny out of the club despite everyone wanting to be certain he has.

Not sure it’s a ‘matter of record’ ? May be true but no real evidence either way beyond Chinese whispers
It’s a slightly different scenario though when you are at the end of your tenure, must be tempting to move a bit of cash between accounts !

It will depend how much was offered surely? If it was a derisory figure (say, £200,000) then clearly the club would turn that down.

Less wanting to be certain he has and more having expecting him to because he's a dodgy piece of shit.

Literally just been messaged by my best mate (who is an Oxford fan) asking me how pissed off will I be when he signs for Oxford?

I think he's probably quite important and that we should be holding out for a good fee.

He's worth at least £1m

Yes, this would seem like a sensible price for him. However... this got me thinking about how much players generally go for in League One. so I headed over to the transfermarket.com. below is the biggest transfers paid for League one players last season

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/league- ... s=&zuab=ab

and this one is for this season, so far

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/league- ... s=&zuab=ab

Looking at the above links I'd say we are undervaluing Azeez by thinking we will be looking for around a million, even if he is last year of contract

Judging by how much Brum payed for a lot of theirs he's worth a good £8m.

So what will Reading sell Azeez for? Not likely to get much more than 1 or 2 million given he's out of contract next June. Personally unless someone does wave the proverbial silly money for him then Reading should be immediately talking to him about a new deal.

Azeez is very inconsistent, he seems to have a run of good games followed by a run or poor games. In his good games he can be unplayable and in his poor games, well, we all know what happens then!! :D
Anything north of a million would be good business however, if the takeover goes through then do we really need to sell? Personally i would keep him and put him on a three year contract....if anyone can get the best out of him then maybe Selles is that man.

All the decent free's have gone, being under transfer embargo, have to keep. Azeez is a bit hot and cold but another year he should get more consistent given his age, hopefully he'll sign a couple of year extension, with an option to leave next summer if a decent offer comes in

Azeez is a winger, inconsistency is their stock in trade.
