Should Hunty start against Arsenal?

by Glen Little's Nose » 17 Oct 2006 22:27

Definitely, regardless whether bobby is fit or not.

And we will raise the roof every time he gets the ball!

Unless the Bobster is fit. It might be better for Hunt to come on with half an hour to go and get a rousing reception.

I think Hunt should start, regardless of whether Convey is fit or not.

Convey has had a below-par start to the season and I thought Hunt had a really good game on Saturday, so I see no reason for him not continuing.

He will start. Convey will be fit by coming back from injury won't be up to the 90 minutes.

Hunty set up Doyle's crossbar shot, and had a lively game.

I think that he should play as he's done more in one game than Convey did in 7, and also as a sign of the club's support towards him.

I disagree, if Convey is 100% match fit and raring to go then I would select Convey.

Convey is a better player. Although Hunt was very busy against Chelsea he always lacks quality in the final third and doesn't have the final ball, the quality cross, the defence splitting pass.

Convey may be less busy than Hunty in the defensive 2/3rds of the pitch but Convey can put dangerous balls into dangerous areas where things tend to happen.

For the guy to state that Hunt has done more in one game of football than Convey in the previous 7 is unfair. Don't people remember Convey's excellent delivery from a free kick that lead to Ingimarsson heading home the winner against Man City and almost getting knocked out in the process (Its not just Chelsea players that get knocked out Morley, Kitson, Ingimarsson?).

Convey has the quality from set pieces, wide areas, can make dangerous passes. Hunt always runs out of ideas once he has advanced to the business end of the football pitch.

He works hard, he is busy, I respect him for that just like I respected Hughes for possessing the same qualities. But I would rather select Convey but only if Convey is 100% match fit and raring to go. Otherwise stick with Hunt. But Convey IS a better player.

Agreed, would be good for him to know that everyone is fully behind him as well.

hmm, maybe so, but do you think coppell is the type of manager that judges a player on last seasons performances? :?

As a Yank and a big admirer of Convey, I've got to say I want Hunt to get the start. He earned it with his performance, and I wouldn't mind seeing a fresh and motivated Convey coming off the bench with 20-30 minutes left.
