I Love Him, I Love Him Not

by Maguire » 13 Feb 2007 15:19

I realise it’s a day early but I thought we needed a Valentine’s Day thread, so here it is. It’s a long-held theory of mine (ie. FACT) that every football fan has a “love player andâ€

Luff Player - Andy Hughes[/u] Will run all day, much like a horse but far hairier. Convinced there's a Duracell battery up his anal highway. Heart of a Lion..........

Hate player - Kingsley - Lazy oik. Swear he has nits!

Current love player

David Kitson. The flame haired one will always be a favourite of mine. With his ungainly yet effective approach, his scything tackles, 'telling it as it is' verbal style, he'll always have a special place in this mans heart. GET HIM IN THE SIDE COPPELL

Current hate player

Steve Hunt. yes he may work his backside off every game, but his end product is usually so woefully disappointing. I dont like the way he runs, his haircut, him keeping Bobby out the side. Its even more irritating now that he could be seen as playing well

Players from the past

Loves

Trevor Morley! Michael Gilkes

Hates

Kevin Dillon, Andy Bernal

Love - Murty, Great captain, great team player and he was there when we were crap (and probably has a souvineer pair of pants).

Hate - Seol, Seems to not want to chase lost causes, complete opposite in that respect to Hunt and Long.

Love player - I'm sure most Reading fans would agree that the player we all pay our entrance fees to watch is Little. He has surprised me time and time again with his ability to make so-called Premiership defences look like utter gimps. Perhaps I should have stopped being surprised a while ago by his talent but, as has already been alluded to, he's a bit of a shambler.

Hate player - Marcus Hahnemann. Well, not really hate but I think I must have blamed him for just about every goal Reading have conceded this season, and plenty of them last time round too (although I didn't mind as much when we were top). Can't remember him not kicking a ball straight out of play when it's his turn to restart either, although I'm sure it happens. Oh and Actim rate him as our best player at the moment so he probably shouldn't care about what I think.

Sorry anyway, Marcus :(

Love - Lita, Ingimarsson. Lita because he's a sheer goalscorer best finisher in the club. Ingimarsson because he's proven the doubters wrong, is a role model for everyone at the club and a quality player. Very underrated.

Hate - Hunt probably, 100% effort, final ball? Usually average at best. Hate is a harsh word though, also like Mags, Harper is another candidate for the exact reasons. The Crab as he is known here, although he has played much better recently. At Portsmouth I was not in a freindly mood when describing the Crab's performance.

Quite a turnaround in your view of Ingimarsson!

I've always been a big fan of Ivar!

I did have one or two doubts about him at the start of the season, but I've always rated him! Maybe you have me confused with someone else?

I was the one frontrunning IVAR for player of the season campaign t'other year, had the Ivar avatar and Location for ages.

Embarssingly I also have this seasons home shirt with Ingimarsson 16 on the back

I thought the shirt looked shite without it being printed and with the badges. I also thought at the time of purchase may not get a chance to get these Premiership badges for a little while after this season.

LOVE PLAYER

Glen Little

In my opinion the most sublimely skillful player i have ever seen playing for us and i saw Mr Friday. Like Mags i firmly believe any crosses that fail to find their target are purely down to inept forward play and nothing to do with Blakey. Any failings in the shooting department are purely down to the fact that he's got tired or bored from screwing opposing players into the ground for the umpteenth time. In an age when we're told by experts that you have to have pace, power or preferably both to succeed he proves that experts are in fact kunters.

HATE PLAYER

Graeme Murty

Yes i know he's wonderful and lovely and all that and that's the problem. For his first 18 months to 2 years the man was a complete waster. Nothing too odd with that really as the club was full of them at the time. But ever since then he's been on a mission to show me up. His football has been fantastic and he's been a wonderful ambassador for the club and therefore he makes me feel guilty for the original hatred. He even spells his name "Graeme" FFS. I should let it go really of course but until he lifts the "Premiership" trophy i'll always blame him for making me watch Andy f*****g Gurney attempt to play full back.

love: james harper

the boy with the crazy eyebrows and beating heart of this team.
and the source of all club banter and camerarderie on the pitch, in training, and in the dressing room.
love the way he harries players by running near them and waving his arms, have loved all his goals from last year and this, and cannot for the life of me understand the people that slate him on here.
the boy is a god

hate: if pushed
john halls,

but ive only seen him play two reserve games, its based more on apparent attitude, though ive never seen him train
mostly i thinks its becuase of my hatred of his hair

or seol

as he frustrates the hell out of me despite playing much like blakey who i love, and scoring more goals than glen

Love - Sorry to be repetitive but I'm gonna say Glen Little. SkySports claimed that Bolton's Kevin Nolan was the "unluckiest British player" at the moment. What rubbish! I genuinely can't see a better English right-winger at this moment in time! The man is a wizard with the ball at his feet and really doesn't get enough credit & attention! Plus he's a really top bloke!

Hate - Seol. This guy has no passion whatsoever! His inability to challenge for the ball or indeed make the slightest tackle makes him my least-liked player. The guy has talent but really looks out of place in a Reading side which contains for me a team of lads who (the majority) wear their hearts on their sleeves and I'm afriad Seol just doesn't do enough for my liking!
