Financial jackpot

by anR » 18 Apr 2007 21:47

I'm curious about the financial implications of say finishing 10th instead of 9th. I know they showed us during the 'Hooray for Tevez' match tonight, but does anyone know that prize money break down?

Cheers

Although of course Sheff Utd 'deserve' to be at lot higher and it is a conspiracy by the FA and referees that has robbed them of a CL place....

Chelsea must be hoping and praying that win the title, as it means they can pay Ballack for another month.

Itwould be interesting to see how European football affected these figures, i.e there would be a bigger jump from 8th to 7th and a huge rise from 5th to 4th.

For the sake of comparison, what did we get for winning the Championship last season?

From the Telegraph

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=A1YourView&xml=/sport/2007/04/19/soinsi19.xml
Scudamore aiming to placate clubs in TV row

The Premier League clubs are set to take a vote today on proposals to change the way they carve up the Premiership's new £2.7 billion television windfall.

The Daily Telegraph revealed last month how Charlton were leading a group of around 10 clubs calling for changes to the League's funding formula.

They argued that the current split, where 50 per cent of the cash is shared equally, with 25 per cent dependant on where teams finish in the table and 25 per cent handed out according to the number of times clubs appear on TV, created inequality. It was suggested that 70 per cent of the money should be handed out equally with 20 per cent dependant on League finish and 10 per cent on TV appearances.

That was rejected, however, after it was discovered that the new equation would lead to relegated teams receiving too much money through the parachute payments.

The smaller clubs still hope to devise a new plan, but in an effort to head off the revolt, Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore is set to table a new approach today which will attempt to even out the disparity caused by broadcasters always choosing the more successful and therefore richer teams.

A new quota, requiring each team to be shown a certain number of times by Sky and Setanta, is one option.

More than likely correct..

In the 2002/03 Season TV revenue ranged from between £31m (ManU) to £13m (Sunderland)

When I get an opportunity I'll work out what we've earned through TV & Media rigts this season.

Yeah, we have had a fair bit of coverage this year, on top of a nice high finish. Bit more punch in the market in the summer would be nice.

I think Sky like the Birmingham-Villa derbies because there's usually some ten bellied twat prepared to run on the pitch and do something stupid and it wasn't always David Dunn.
