Slinky agree with Beckham recall

Why?
It won't paper over the fact he'll still bottle out the problem area of midfield when the qualifiers come around

Much Becks he's awesome and should never have been dropped, I wouldnt have said the right side is our problem

Beckham should never have been excluded in the first place.

Slightly astonished about this news when I saw it on Football Focus just now, but absolutely brilliant for him.

About 12-18 months ago there was one particular poster on here who said, and it went something like this...

'None of the current Reading squad are good enough to be called up for England' and I the word NEVER was used more than once...

Wish I could find it but you know who you are.....doubt you'll own up though....

Usually I don't partake in I told you so but this particular individual spoke as if he was the oracle of all information and nobody else's opinion mattered. Then again, that could be a number of posters on this shite board....

Oh yes, I remember that. Dismissed Leroy and Shorey and said Sidwell wasn't very good.

Now Sidwell is at Chelsea and Shorey has been called up.

someone has egg on their face.

VERY Well done Shorey. Tough to get into that squad now with a bunch of donkeys as managers, but you managed it. :D Another step in the right direction for one of our players.

Surely this will be handy to convince players to join?

Leyton Orient to Reading for £25,000, found a way into the team, improved from an old Division 2 player, to a brilliant full England international.

Nicely done, and good luck for the upcoming games Shorey (I doubt you'll need it).

Beckham should never have been dropped, but it's too late to bring him back in now IMO. He should have been used as an experienced player to bring on the youngsters and a demonstration that you don't need oodles of speed to be a quality international. What you actually need is oodles of quality. Would have been excellent for our bench and to add a bit of passion.

Aaron Lennon take note.

Just shows how much of a clueless bottle job McLaren is. Can't pick a decent team, and his one attempt to make the squad his own and bring about change has had a complete U-turn a year or so later.

What a oxf*rd. Good news for Shorey though

completly agree with Ian Royal and JMW, whilst Beckham is still good enough, its another example of Mclarens short termism, and him bowing to media pressure.

Is Beckham good enough? yes.
Will Beckham push the team forward in the long term? not really, no

Feeling very proud to be a Reading fan right now. Shorey has been an absolute pleasure to watch ever since his transfer from Leyton Orient. Immense.
