Halford spouting off again !

by Nezhen » 19 Oct 2007 12:37

It seems the whole Halford to Sunderland deal is raising it's ugly head again as he try's to blame his poor performances on his time at Reading and suggest that Oster inferred that Sunderland were a bigger and more ambitious club than Reading.

So it seems either that Halford is either scapegoating Reading for his poor performances at Sunderland or Oster has delusions of grandeur over his time at Sunderland when he was part of a poor and ineffective team.

Time to grow up me thinks !

If true, it smacks of him trying to deflect from the ineptitude of his performances this season.

Its easy to blame others when you're sh*t........

He's just got to knuclke down and get on with it. He has to do his best and hope that its good enough.

If it doesn't work at Sunderland then maybe he has to realise that he is a Championship player. He certainly looks it.

"If I'm given a chance I've got to grab it with both hands, it could be my last chance," he admitted.

He might wanna try using his feet unless he wants a repeat of Spurs last season.

They are but they are also behind us in the table at present, which is the only measure than matters.

I was a bit gutted when he left, but the more I hear since convinces me Coppell was 100% right to sell him on.

Halford is a bitter man. His confidence would be even more shot if he knew what the Sunderland fans we met before the game last month thought of him  . Liam Rosenior > Greg Halford.....and that in itself is perhaps the most searing indictment I can think of.

Ambition without the means to achieve is called a dream.

The amount of money that they are investing suggests that they are more ambitious.

How so ?

We made a profit on him, so even if it didn;t work from a footballing sense it can hardly be seen as 100% wrong !

For 100% wrong deals look at clubs that spend millions on a player who never performs and then gets moved on for a fraction of the original fee.

I think a lot of people on here have been a bit hard on Halford.
He was clearly not wanted by our club and for some reason (like Fae) having spent a decent wedge on him we decide not to play him.
As for the article I suspect Oster will have said something like "Sunderland are a good club to go to "which is innocuous.

Deep down Oster may have thought "I know Little is injured and Reading kept on playing Halford at right midfield in the reserves so with him gone I have every chance of getting a game unless I get injured"

I hope Halford ends up doing o.k. at Sunderland but he does have that useless McShane to play alongside so he may look worse than he is.
Going back to the Spurs game he had to mark England's winger at the time (Lennon) and had an injured Little playing ahead of him so he was really exposed and IMHO he didn't do as badly as some suggest and I reckon the hand-ball was a bit harsh.
