Seol or Rosenior?

by Kes » 01 Nov 2007 13:48

From what I've seen this seems to have been a bad swap deal on Readings behalf. Seol blew hot and cold but Rosenior looks very poor.

Well, at least Rosenior is a trier which makes him a hero in the mind of Reading fans

Obviously they are completely different players, much like asking who's better - Ashley or Joe Cole?

FWIW, I think that Coppell sees Rosenior as a 'Reading-type' player - someone who's prepared to put their body on their line and give 100% each week for the team, something that Seol was never going to do consistently. In terms of ability, Seol is ahead, but that does not necessarily mean that it was a bad move for Reading, it's just a shame ahow the right midfield injuries coincided.

Alan Partridge at right midfield Seol
at right back Rosenior

Concur

You may as well compare Kitson and Oster. They play in completely different positions, due to poor planning on SC's behalf we don't have a right winger so an outstanding prospect at right back has been forced to play out of position.

Erm - that's not quite right though is it. Little has been injured for several months and Oster, injured or not, has never proved himself to be anything other than a bit part player.

Is that becasue he's never been asked to do anything other than play bit parts ?

He was a bit part player at Everton and Sunderland too.....notice the trend?

Not to mention he can't get even close to a call up for the worst welsh international side in living memory. They'd struggle to beat Ebbw Vale, yet they'd prefer to go with nonentities from League One Swansea City than John Oster.

In summary then:

Seol > > > > > Oster.

Get back to me with the last time Oster whacked in a match-winning goal for us from 20 yards out, such as Seol did at Sheff Utd and West Ham last season.

Seol scored a couple of good goals, still a bit part player for us though.

Good to see we've given Rosenior the chance to establish himself before writing him off !

Let's face it, Rosenior is a bit part player for us as well until we sign a right midfielder or Murty and DLC leave

Seol the player reflects the same attitude as Floyd Streete the supporter and Nobber.

Very mixed contributions. Right moody. A delight to observe on occasions but more often than not a pain in the arse who's a downer on everyone else.

Out of interest-How is seol doing at Fulham? Haven't heard his name mentioned in any reports for them.

the way both seol and halford have bombed at their prospective new clubs
speaks volumes for coppells ability to spot a wrongun in training, and ruthlessly cut them loose.
though perhaps not speaking quite as well for the clubs purchasing team
hammond, scouting network, etc
or maybe it just shows what a gamble paying 2-3 million on a player is

From what i've seen of the two players:

Seol - Hot/Cold

Rosenior - Cold

So my vote goes to Seol. However, it's early days for Rosenior, some players take time to settle after a move so this should be best decided after a season.

My Fulham supporting colleague is far from impressed with Seol thus far BTW.

While it's hard to compare the two, Rosenior was purchased by Coppell to play right wing, not right back and most of this board said what a great move it was and what a great winger Rosenior would be. Anyone who dared suggest Rosenior was a right back and swapping him for our only right winger was not a good idea, was of course branded a clueless idiot.

Seol>Oster>Rosenior>Fae

Thank fcuk for Kevin Doyle and let's all pray Coppell does in January what would have been so much easier to do in summer, buy a fcukin right winger!!
