Didn't look like much to me, thought it was more a case of him catching him in the ey with a stray finger? Don't think it was malicious.

Agreed - just caught Murts with a flailing finger - nothing in it, certainly not a punch.

it wasnt a punch, there was connect as he had a cut on his face afterwards, but certainly nothing to deserve a red card.

Agreed. Interesting to note the Shite Sky commentary though, where they said he's making a lot of that. Nothing wrong with him, and then were strangely silent when his head came up and you could clearly see a cut.

Green pushing Hunt in the face was far worse.

And Hunty got booked for it!

The ref never blew for Hunt's intial pushing on the West Ham defender. So according to the ref, Hunt's offense was being pushed in the face by two raised arms.

Last time I checked raising hands to the face was a red card??

agreed.

Green should have been booked, Hunty didnt even have contact with him or the other player, Green stood up and walked away with Hunty walking afterwards and then lashed out.

Now whether or not Hunty wasnt as innocent as we think, and could have said something under his breathe to cause Green to spin round, only Hunty and Green know.

But still a red card should have been given to Green

If it had been Hunt pushing Green in the face, who thinks it would have been just a yellow card?!

Hunty was mouthing off in Green's face, as Hunty is always likely to do. Green took exception and behaved like a prat. But it takes two to tango.

McCartney should have been booked for at least one of two cynical challenges.

Agreed. The Murty incident was purely accidental. Green was totally out of order and for Hunt to be booked was ridiculous. The trouble is Hunty has got a reputation now...the Citeh tackle was appalling and did not help his case but the other high profile incidents were blown out of proportion, ie the Chelsea game, Ireland sending off and the Gillespie grief.

The way I saw it, Hunt didn't start mouthing off until Green had gone for him. Andy Gray called it dead right at the time. Green cocked up big time and, in an attempt to cover up his own mistake, went for Hunt who was completely innocent and did nothing to deserve a booking.

Walton clearly spends too much time watching and listening to media coverage of games/players and then doesn't properly watch the game he's meant to be refereeing. His decision to book Hunt yesterday was clearly more based on what he had seen and heard about other games than what happened in front of his eyes.

I fail to agree with what you say and I was sat right next to you! Hunty did nothing until Green started giving him a bit of the ol' wurrrzel lip, to which Hunty rightly rounded back and gave as good as he got. All Hunty did was square up, which in my opinion he is entitled to do to defend his own corner. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was Green who did the shoving, and Hunty was entirely innocent of any charge given against him.

Punch or no punch, it was a red card and if it had been Hunt he would have been banned for 10 games.....

Rubbish.

Man's game = the odd stray arm catching someones face.

It wasn't even an elbow let alone a "punch".

I'm pretty certain I saw a baseball bat being used. He should be locked up.
