Team for Liverpool

by Royal Soupanoodle » 09 Mar 2008 19:15

Knowing Sir Steve as we do, it's likely to be the same starting eleven as against Man C, assuming there are not injuries.

Can't say that he should change the side, only thought would be Kitson to start in place of either Long or Doyle, but then that would be harsh.

so:

USA
Shorey
Inga
Bikey
Rosenior
Hunt
Harper
Mate
Oster
Long
Doyle

Same side.

Work them hard and keep it tight in the 1st half, then try and stretch them at the beginning of the 2nd and then bring on Kitson and possibly Kebe to work at their tired legs and exploit any space that has opened up.

Lets hope that Benitez hasn't learnt his lesson and plays with massive gaping holes on his wings again. The tit.

I think SC will try to pack the midfield to try to counter Gerrard, quite possibly a man marking job for Cisse.

Unchanged side.

We know we're unlikely to get much at Anfield, so we should at least be as comfortable as possible. We always look uncomfortable with any system other than 4-4-2

Kitson for long for me, simply because of the size of Hyppia, Skrtel, Carragher, Agger or whoever plays centre-back. We won't have enough of the ball to run it, if we get anything from this game it will have to be ugly, and that means a big man up front.

Thats Playing into their plan thou, if they have massive slow centre backs, play it on the ground using fast striker like Long and Doyle, don't use a big striker like Kitson otherwise we will just give them balls to head back all day long.

He played quite well for us. You must be mistaking him for one of Chelsea's players yesterday.

This is a difficult one, we know that Liverpool will play with Torres on the last mans shoulder and he is quick, so do we play 5 at the back ? I know its never really worked but I am not sure that Ingi will be able to cope with Torres pace, would also put Kits in as he is good at defensive set pieces, so risking much critisism:-

Kitson Doyle

We won’t get enough of the ball for Doyle and Long to come into play. Mascherano will no doubt anchor the midfield too. We won’t be able to pass it through Liverpool.

It'll be interesting to see what side the Scousers put out, given their CL match at Inter a few days before our game.

The Italians will give it a real go, I'm sure, and for Liverpool its the only thing left for them to win this season. (Apart from 4th place)

Now I'm not suggesting that our Italian friends will be heavy handed with Torres, Gerrard et al...But you wouldn't put it past them...

As howser says this is increbibly tricky to decide. I think we have to have some raw pace at the back with torres and for this reason alone i would play cisse as he looks ok on the deck, it is just in the air he has the problem. Also we will need the ball to stick up front and for this reason i would play kitson. Incredibly harsh on the boys who did so well against city, but they can come back in against bham.

Have hunt in the middle hasseling the liverpool midfield running round like a headless chicken. If we keep it tight for 70 minutes bring on long to give us that energy and pace upfront.

Unchanged side. Coppell said a few weeks back, after the United game, that we were not going to go defensive against the 'big 4' anymore this season and no need to change a winning side.

Same 16 for me, were expected to lose so anything is a bonus

Sorry, but that's a disaster waiting to happen. Liverpool aren't so good that we should change our whole system for them.

Same team but different formation. Doyle to play right side with Oster as an extra centre mid.

And Bikey to rough up Torres for 90 minutes.
