Making a name for themselves?

by Gordons Cumming » 19 Mar 2008 14:44

I recently spotted a few ex-Reading players featuring in the front page of their respective new teams websites.

Jamie Cureton
Darius Henderson
Nathan Tyson

Which players, including the ones above, have gone on, in your opinion, to better things since leaving the club?
Not that those 3 have.

Past and currently playing............

Kerry Dixon and Neil Webb did pretty well didn't they?

Matt Busby also improved after he stopped playing for us.

How recently?

Fairly obvious ones in my time as a fan would be - Dixon, Webb, Sanchez, Shaka.

I think the three players you have listed have all found probably their right level of football but don't quite have what is needed to succeed in the Premiership. Pearce is making quite a good name for himself at Norwich and Scott Davies at Aldershot has been a big success in the Blue square this season. Primus has probably been one of the players to have gone on to better things in recent times. Generally it would seem that most players who have moved on from the club have gone to a lower level of football so by and large our transfer policy of letting players go at the right time seems to be very good.

Disagree. I think he's gone into reverse.

Baradji and Obinna.

Ok well I've no idea if they have made a name for themselves but does anyone know what did happen to them ? Unsung heroes of the Championship winning side !

Not too many I can think of, Shaka and Primus are the obvious ones.

The only other player I can think of that went on to better things was Lovell. Moved to a SPL side from a team who got relegated to League 1 equivalent. Does that count?
