player of the season

by bracknell_royal15 » 24 Mar 2008 20:47

For me probably Hunt but I don't think any one player has shone this year. Who does everyone think has been our most valuble player this year?

No-one's been consistantly good throughout the season or particularly outstanding so I'd go for someone who's had had a big impact at key moments. Hunt, Kitson or Harper.

I think Marcus should get a shout this season, without being a man of the match any week he has consistently come up with important saves that has kept us in games

i don't think any outfield player has delivered consistently.

Has to be one of our killer H's:
Hunt, Harper, Hahnemann.

All three have started every Prem game this year. (the only three to do so I believe)
All three have made vital contributions.

I will go with Hunt. He has worked hard to improve himself and gone from someone we might have happily sold for millions before the season to someone we would never think of selling despite a multi-million pound offer.

Hunt in January. Now it's Harps for me. Why isn't this a poll by the way?

Harper has been fighting for the club all season and produced a couple of the highlights with the goals against Liverpool and Middlesborough, for eg. Therefore, he'd get my vote.

Agreed. You've got to look over the whole season (which eliminates Kitson through lack of consistency and Rosenior, Marek and Bikey for lack of games in my humble opinion), and I'd put Harps in 3rd place at the moment for his timely goalscoring contributions and overall tidy and consistent play. Hunty would be 2nd mainly for his early season form. He's still a bundle of trouble for opposition defences even though he hasn't quite managed to keep that momentum going 100%. But Marcus's saves earn him the number 1 spot for me. His distribution is still woeful, but he's saved us way more points than he's cost us. I can only think of one calamitous moment in a match I've watched, the first Pompey goal at home. I'm sure others will remind me that there were more, but I think of his performances at home to Liverpool, away to Brum, and vital saves like the one on Saturday when Brum were going for a winner, and it seems that he's done more than any other player to keep us in the division. And I say that as one who feels we should be looking to improve in that position.
