Missing. Last Seen 6 or so months ago

by jumpers for goalposts » 29 Mar 2008 18:46

This is an appeal for any information available on the whereabouts of Reading left back Nicky Shorey. The fans favourite has not been seen at the Madejski since his inclusion in a Steve Mclaren England squad late last year. The fact that he has gone missing has only been noted in recent times when Reading's left back, clearly an imposter, started playing continous long ball football. The club have become worried that without him, they could still be in relegation trouble, and are determined to ascertain the whereabouts of one of their key assets. Please do get in touch if you can help!

Somebody that looks just like him scored a goal against villa a month ago and set up Bikeys winner against Brum last week

Fair point about the long balls though. Ooijer must have thought it was his birthday today with the hundreds of long balls he had to deal with. He's become very predictable and seems to have forgotten how to run with the ball

Somebody who looks a lot like him kept Bentley quiet today. There are plenty of left backs who would be quite pleased with themselves for achieving that.

So, after 8 successive losses we now have 1 defeat in 5 games, including 3 clean sheets and we have threads today moaning about Doyle, Hunt and now even Shorey; doubtless there will be a post later on about the IMPoster and our Balding Guy who can't manage for toffee, but I wonder how many more negative threads / posts will be up before the post-mortem today has ended.

I find it a bit sad to be honest that people would still, even now, with safety beckoning, find reason to be negative about our players.

Well it's taken a while Mr Rother, but I am glad that you are seeing things how they are these days.

Well done mate.

Shorey was Ok today. Didn't do much wrong although his passes and crosses were pretty average.
Hardly gone missing though and has not been at fault for many goals this season.

I'm a big Shorey fan but he was extremely poor today - gave the ball away far too cheaply and lost his man several times in the first half in particular. Nobody else to bring in though, hopefully he'll play himself back into form.

I was watching the season highlights from last year and one thing that stands out is Shorey's endless runs forward, his linking up with Convey or Hunt and then his excellent crosses.

It was then that you realised that we haven't seen much if that at all this season.

So why isn't he getting forward?

I question his hunger for the team. It's as if he feels he's arrived now, he's played for England, he's a Billy big bollocks and now just turns up. But guess what Nicky, that isn't enough mate because you quite literally went missing today as you have done for many games this season.

Very very disappointing and we are missing his getting forward. He opens up teams and gives us another attacking option. Or did.

I think we miss that almost as much as we miss Sidwell TBH.

If it wasn't so damn insulting it would be funny.

Less confidence in the midfield to cover back and less confidence in his left midfielder to do the right thing?

His worst moment imo came in the Man City away game. Utterly, utterly at fault for their first.

I think some of the posts here have missed my point. I don't dispute that Shorey is still an excellent set piece taker, and yes he has provided assists, and on the whole done a decent defensive job. But the long ball football he's playing at the moment is selling himself short. He's a top player who should be performing far better IMHO.

Where have the marauding forward runs gone? He is one of only a couple of our players who can really lift the crowd with a bit of quality. Yes one could argue that we've not been playing well and this has forced him into playing more defensively. But when your team are struggling it's up to your best players to lift the rest of the team. Shorey is in this bracket, and we have a right to expect better of him. He certainly wasn't the worst player on the pitch today, or even recently, but someone of his ability should be having a far greater influence on the game, he is after all an England international. That is why I felt the need to criticise him. It's nothing personal, just want to see him play to his potential

As you're online... and I've nothing better to do. Hmmm, what a patronising twat you are... "Balding guy" What kind of wnaker calls the most successful manager in Reading's history, that?

If you really are SDR then that doesn't surprise me. Having heard you on Radio Berkshire, I have a mental picture of that fat tub of lard on HIGNFY. Say something interesting, tub, something, that doesn't come from your media chums.

Although I have referred to the unvocal one as the Balding Guy in the past, I was quoting Royal Rother.

Is it time of the month as the rest of your post is littered by mistakes as I am not SDR, I have never been on Radio Berkshire. There has been a song written about me however by a Bard in another thread, so I think you're probably getting your wires crossed at some point.

Tub, feel free to point out the mistakes. TBH. I couldn't give an arse. You're a kunt, and that's about as intellectual as I want to get with a dick like you tonight.

You are a poor quality fan and if the Emperor does move forward with my cherished fan scheme I shall be weeping with joy that you will not be sat near me.

The moment your failed comments have been shown to be so far out of alignment with the truth, you result to abuse and hissy fits. You will also be pleased to know that you are not the kind of fan that the Emperor would like for RFC as he considers this a family club.

Hahaha. I'm not sure what that means, but you're right about not sitting next to me. It's either a fishing trip, which is shit or you can't afford to. Either way, you're a kunt.
