Whats the best combination?

by Alan Partridge » 16 Aug 2008 19:04

After today, I'm still not sure about Lita and Doyle, I think both would be better off playing with a Kitson type player target man. They don't seem to be that great together and I would have personally liked to have seen N Hunt earlier. Long is an ideal sub and for me should remain there. Think I'd like to see N Hunt & either Lita or Doyle.

Thoughts?

There's still the possibility that Doyle could leave if all these rumours of a £7m are true. Im pretty confident that Long will be good this season. For Charlton away next week I'd like to see N.Hunt and Doyle up top together.

With Marek: Lita and either N. Hunt or preferably Doyle.

Lita was better than Doyle today, and worked his butt off.

Lita and Long for me.

Lita hasn't looked like scoring tbh and is a back to goal striker and we need someone who will run at defenders like Doyle. Queue Shane Long...

That has to be the default pairing. Only go elsewhere if things start to turn bad.

Doyle and Lita are like chalk and cheese.

N.Hunt is well worth a start but at the same time, can't complain at 2 wins and a draw from what we're playing now.

True

But our top goal scorer is our centre back!

At the moment Lita and Doyle. I do think that Hunt would be a good starter if the pairing really has problems in the future.

I would prefer to see Doyle and Hunt if that is the case...

IMO the problem is that they are cheese and cheese.

Some 6ft+ chalk would help.

Would like to see Hunt and Doyle start.

But to be fair that's harsh on Lita. For all the stick he gets about being lazy, the guy works his ass off and despite a few bad games, always does.

Think Long is the best impact sub.

yeah but the only guy i see scoring goals even if he is playing bad or amazing is lita and doyle gives his all for the club aswell
but.... i dont like long because i know hes only young but sometimes he can really shine and i like him but sometimes he doesnt know what hes doing, long is the kinda guy i want to come on as a sub and chase down the ball and change the match around
AND i dont know about noel hunt ive got mixed thoughts he looks ok, hes got an eye for goal but he is huntys brother that says it all really

It's still early days so i say stick with lita and doyle, doyle really should of been off the mark today. I am impressed with the way lita worked hard and put in alot of effort. Hope it pays off.

Good point.
I think Lita showed against Derby that he could feed off Matejovsky's through balls.

Lita and Doyle for me. It'll take them a little while to fully click again and we could do with creating more chances for them.

They would be helped by a midfielder joining them in the box when we're making crosses from th ewings or it's just too easy to mark them out of the game. You look at a lot of our goals from crosses from a couple of years ago and I'm sure we'd have 3-4 players in the box. These days we're lucky if it's both strikers.

Both our CM's are more defensive minded, thats the problem, if we had Matejovksi fit, he's the one who pushes forward
