7-0

by Forbury Lion » 17 Sep 2008 17:00

Am I the only one who was dissapointed to not win 7-0?

Currently Bristol Rovers share the biggest win at the Madejski Stadium record with us as they beat us 6-0.

Personally I wish we'd play the entire game as it we were chasing an equaliser in a cup final instead of taking it easy safe int he knowledge we have the game won.

I blame Kevin Doyle for only scoring 3 and Noel Hunt for failing to get a hat trick. Transfer list the pair of them and re-sign Jamie Cureton.

Never mind that, I'm very disappointed we didn't beat our record 10-2 win.

I blame Coppell for taking off the Hunts and Doyle because he thought that we have an away game on Saturday that we have every chance of winning.

What was he thinking of? (Oh shit - perhaps Royalee was right after all - he doesn't have a clue)

No, I was the East Stand dullard last night banging on about this to anyone around me who'd listen.

I wonder how many other teams don't hold the record score at their own ground?

I thought we did. We are also the only team to score 6 twice at the Mad Stad.

Me too. I was late for the kick off that day. When I arrived it was 0-0 and heading to half time. The bloke I first spoke to on the South Bank as I came in said it was the most boring 0-0 he'd seen in years. We scored one soon after and then the walls came down around us as Southport capitulated in the second half. Same bloke came up to me afterwards and asked what it was I'd done to change things!

Motivation goes at that point. Sheff wed were a sporting team, didn't foul, issue abuse or show any disrespect so there was no added motivation for us to embarrass them further.

I was disappointed. In my hundreds of years watching football I have never seen one team score more than 6 in a game. Yes, I was at the 0-6 against B Rovers. I was also at the 6-0 versus West Ham. And in the past I have seen a fair smattering of sixes, but never a seven. Sort it out Coppell.

I'm pissed of because I backed 6 goals or more at 15/1 & 7 goals or more at 54/1 on betfair, but I shouldn't be greedy. :P

The momentum went after the subs.....

Not to mention missing the 4-7 against Portsmouth. But then again really I want to see Reading score seven. And yes, if I weren't a plastic I would have been at some of these games.

I've never seen us even score 6!

In fact the largest score line I've seen is 0-6 vs Bristol Rovers.

The highlighted one appears to be RFC scoring 7.
Michael Parkinson was at the game supporting Bannslee. He didn't look happy afterwards. Much that same as we looked at Chesterfield a few weeks earlier.

I was also droning on about this. For a good many years I'd never seen Reading score more than four in a competitive fixture.....and then we did so twice in about 10 days against Oldham and Swansea; the waiting for buses effect. Six against West Ham was a memorable moment and I felt convinced that I was finally going to see Reading score seven last night. I had my head in my hands when Long's header hit the woodwork :) .

Tbh the last 20 minutes or so were a bit flat! Could have won like 9-0!

I've seen us thrashed 6-0 at Tranmere. I also saw the 5-1 at Stockport the same year.

Biggest win I've seen was the 5-1 against Cardiff in 2006.
