Return of Leroy Lita?

by AlexY25 » 22 Oct 2008 00:00

Surely it wont be long until people start talking about Leroy Lita coming back, his loan surely doesn't last much longer, scores a hatrick against top of the table, could be time for him to part ways but i would rather have him on the bench than long, hes making no impact when he comes on now.

Lita > Long

By that token it would be nice to see him back in the Reading squad. 3 goals tonight, just seen them and that was the old LL, 2 very good finishes, the last one was probably going wide but if he gets it fair enough and the last goal was after he'd hit the post with a curling shot. A confident and firing Leroy Lita would be an assett to any team in this division and he's shown on numerous times he can get goals in this division given the service. Apart from tonight we've been playing a lot better recently and he'd probably have got a few goals in the last few games. Fingers x'd he comes back soon.

Will he want to? Now that we only want him coz he scored a few goals. After being such a lazy, ignorant, disruptive force previously.

There's no point speaking for someone else.

Leroy is the toast of Narge tonight and we should take full advantage of it

Keep extending his loan period until the transfer window opens and pray that they bid £1m for his services.

Accept offer for Lita and make £2m bid for Kitson.

Lita surely wont be coming back, he has had his time here and didnt do a lot with it, a wasted opportunity for him, except a bid for him and let him move on

Long is terrible. Lita being out on loan instead of on our bench makes little sense to me unless there is a problem between player and manager after all. And his disruptive influence being a reason to get him out of the club, at least for a short time, maybe.

But Long is poor. One injury to N.Hunt or Doyle and we're in big trouble!

Not when he'll be a free transfer 6 months later they wont. £500,000 maybe.

surely it's Long who should be out on loan in league 1
Lita should be on the bench , and Mooney is a Star in waiting

Offer £1m and they can have him, otherwise when he is a free agent he might not want to go to them.

I think we should loan him out to other championship teams that are due to play Wolves and Birmingham in the same month :)

That is exactly the point - even though he is free in the summer, the fact that several clubs will be trying to sign him will mean we can get more than just a cut-down price.

I can't understand why people think that becasue a player is nearing the end of his contract his value actually diminishes.

Clubs buy players because they need them NOW. QPR need a goalscorer today, not next summer. To wait and hope they get him 'cheap' in the summer whilst missing the playoffs due to not scoring is nonsensical.

Plus what is saved on the transfer fee is demanded by the player as a personal signing on fee anyway

And isn't Lita under 24 and therefore not available on a Bosman anyway.... (not exactly sure of his age as of next summer !)

Their value diminishes because (presuming the player has refused to sign a new contract) the selling club is in a poor position. If they want any return on the player they have to sell in January. Any club that felt they had a decent chance of securing the player on a free transfer in the summer would be loath to pay full price for him. You might not understand it, but a quick look at players sold in the last 6 months of their contract will show you it's true.

He's 24 in December, so that's pretty irrelevant.

I think that most Championship fans are mystified like me as to why Lita cannot make it into our team. Please please do not tell me that Long deserves to be on the bench in front of Lita. Time was when Lita and Doyle formed a fantastic partnership when we were last in the Championship, before Lita's terrible injury sustained at Burnley, but then we have a lot of fans with short memories here!

Let's stop this nonsence about Lita and his attitude problems, the guy got disgruntled because he was not getting a game and I think he had a right to assume that after Kitson left, he would again be given his chance. Noel Hunt looks good, but personally I'd like to see the Lita/Doyle partnership back giving Leroy a chance to prove to us what he can do and why he should be offered a new contract.

Long is a league 1 player at best and will surely be surplus top requirements 'IF' we do make a quick return to the Premership. If we sell Lita, I can't see that this will help our cause, when we don't have any ready made replacements? It's in goal and defence that we need to strengthen in January, and that is obvious!

I predict that Mr Royal "Chump" Rother will come onto this thread, make a laugh and say no way in some shape or form.

he wont play for us... he will be gone in january

the only reason he is on loan is to score and make him worth more to another club... each time he scores his price tag goes up

Totally agree with most of the above, must not forget that this was his only impact so far this season, still cant see him coming back, too many personal issues for this club, and at the end of the day Mooney was bought in as a fifth striker, how many times has SSC said that four strikers are enough.

If you have 4 good strikers then absolutely right.

Apart from today just having a read of the Norwich fans reviews of Lita's loan as a whole and they are resigned that there is 'no chance of us signing him' and he's been 'immense' probably still blinkered after yesterday's game but even so, nice to hear. Lita has done well in this division for us, Charlton and now Norwich in terms of goals to game it's around 1 in 3.

We've got a young striker that has a habit of scoring goals, he's not the best player in the world but he has a knack of being in the right place at the right time, when he gets chances he can score goals. Proven, yet we seem happy to turn our back and get rid already. I'd love to see him get another chance here he definitely has something to offer and i think he improves our squad. Whether that will happen remains to be seen. If we have to play any length of this season with Shane Long a regular starter then we will have a serious problem imo.
