Teams to watch out for

by AlexY25 » 03 Nov 2008 21:58

Birmingham and Wolves are the obvious two.

Who are we gonna have to be looking out for this year and be our closest rivals to go up?

Sheffield Utd
Oh the away game a week saturday, should be all so sweet. I think.

Tbh, every team within the top half we need to watch out for. This league is so tight.

Or maybe SSC needs to do what he did 3 seasons ago and not look at the table?!

Even before last evening I had a feeling that Brum were simply not scoring enough. Unless they address this quickly they could end up doing a Watford and sliding down the table.

Wolves may be able to sustain the pace but are conceding too many.

I have a feeling that Sheff Unt and Derby may well be the ones to watch and any of Burnley, QPR, Ipswich etc could make the play offs if they have a good run.

But I really think we can do it again - not with 106 points but 90 is within our capabilities. Despite some poor results if we win on Saturday we will have 30 points after 16 games. 30 more from each of the next sets of 15 games will give us 90 that may well be enough to win the division again. Even if not as Champions 90 has been enough for top 2 in every recent season.

Derby, because it's the next game. Everything else can take care of itself.

Let the other teams worry about us; frankly, on our day we can beat anyone and as long as we keep getting positive results it won't matter who else is doing what.

Add a NONE option to the poll; that might make things interesting!

I've seen all the competition and to be honest it's crap

We are by far the best footballing side in this league

We have been incredibly unlucky away from home whilst Brum (thanks to Kevin Phillips) have managed a few 1-nillers in injury time

The key is Hunt and Doyle staying and winning when we do have a bad patch - If we can do this we will finish CHAMPIONEEES

I think Brum more than Wolves. Brum have far better players. We'll see.

From the chasing pack, QPR if they sign well for their money, plus Ipswich and Sheff U.

Burnley will finish below halfway.

Maybe Coventry to sneak into the playoffs.

Birmingham and Wolves are the obvious ones as suggested.

I'd say Cardiff, Sheff U and Burnley would be the others leading the way.

QPR might/might not, I think that depends on new management and what money is actually made available.

If you want dark horses then Derby are probably the ones to watch....

Next two away games Sheff U and Cardiff plus Derby at home on Saturday should really test our quality, if we fail in those tests I don't think we'll have the consistency to challenge for automatic promotion.

Having lost to teams that are currently fourth, eighth, fifteenth and twenty second, I'd say we should watch out for everyone. I'm honestly not that bothered what other teams do. We need to get up to and stay at two points per game and well be fine. No more than two teams will achieve that.

From what I have seen so far I wouldn't be supprised if Swansea and Burnley are in the mix, along with Brum and Wolves

would i be right in saying it's not uncommon for only one team to manage it and none did last season?

Derby will wake up.

I think they'll lay-off it *play-off.. Good manager, and they're not as shite as they seem. :D

QPR will buy in January, and with the months that they'll be provided with and the points that'll leave them in the top 8 by then.. I think they'll be play-offs too.

Birmingham will go up auto I'm guessing, Wolves I think could do it but it's a marathon not a sprint, they may fade. Birmingham have a far better squad.

Burnley will be there or there abouts but, mhmmm. (Same to Cardiff)

Palarse
Sheffield United

I`m not sure if we are Blades bogey team or Warnock`s or both. Palace often finish the season strongly and we still have to go to both away.
Colin could yet have the last laugh.
