Derby - Back from the game.

by rfcjoe » 08 Nov 2008 17:35

We were good at what we did and thoroughly deserved the win. Doyle took both of his goals well as did Hunty.

yeah lol, i think derby's chant of 'worst fans in history' was a bit of an exaggeration, but only a bit.

if i was kevin doyle i'd be a bit bemused. i mean i hardly heard a kevin doyle song all game, even after he scored. our fans seemed more interested in singing kalifa cisse, than thanking doyle for signing on.

3-0 without even playing that great and the atmosphere was about as lively as john mccain's victory party...

Armstrong was brilliant today, Bikey was a rock in defence, Doyle and NHunt took their goals well. Some lovely football including some great one-twos down the wings.

Very happy all round.

Lively in the North Stand for a change. It's really hard to get an overall idea of support volume when surrounded by supporters singing.
Derby support was mooted, but not really any suprise there!

Worst team in history > worst fans in history. I know which side of the arguement i'd be on!!

Thought we were very good today, got the ball down as much as possible as well as the usual clinical deliveries from set-pieces. Derby played some nice football but looked nothing special, not really sure why anyone tipped them as possible contenders at the start of the season. Kebe showed flashes of great skill, I'm happy to be proved wrong about him. Everyone played well, I felt sorry for Hulse who was up against Bikey for the whole game.

Very good result in the end and I don't think we even hit top gear tbh. Derby are an average side. Doyle took his goals well and am pleased with the all round performance today.

well i'll definitely agree with you on the last bit.

to be fair the core of our supporters in the east and north were giving it a go, but take it from me as someone at the bottom of the east which is a pretty good place to get a good idea of the overall atmosphere... the atmosphere today was one of the worst for a long time IMO. is it just because everyone just expects us to win and takes it for granted? who knows.

on the subject of the game. bikey was quality today.

Bikey was as strong as an ox holding off Hulse and turning him so easily. He did it so often i thought Hulse was going to spit his dummy.

Today Bikey made Hulse look like a mouse and a poor striker.

Great performance today by the lads. Cisse was brilliant. My Man of the Match. The ref was a bit of a cock and so was the linesman. How was the first goal ruled out? There was nothing wrong with it.

My Ratings

USA - 7 - Nothing to do. Try and keep your kicks in USA.
Rosenior - 7 - Got caught out when Commons had that shot. But made some good runs
Armstrong - 7 - Great cross for the Doyle goal.
Ivar - 7 - Had to handle a tough player in Villa and did well.
Bikey - 8 - Exceptional performance. Strong in the tackle.
Kebe - 7 - Was a bit lazy today. Not much running. But had a few chances to score
S.Hunt - 8 - Best performance of the season from him. Made some good runs.
Cisse - 8 - Closed down so well. Good in the tackle and got up into attack when possible.
Harper - 7 - His effort was great. Closed down well and brought the game down on the floor.
Doyle - 8 - His second goal was class. Played well and made runs.
N.Hunt - 7 - First goal was a good move from the corner. Him and Doyler have a good partnership up front.

Subs :

Matejovksy - 6 - Great reception. And made some nices move on the ball. Not long enough to make a differnece though.
Long - 6 - Looked lively.
Gunnarson - 5 - Didn't see much of him in the little time he had on.

Home Support - Great. Good appreaciation of Kevin Doyle.

Great result.
