Tragic accident in Wales has seen Stewart McEwen, 13 year old Reading goalkeeper die whilst canoeing.

See statement on OS.

Deepest sympathy to his family.

Understating the obvious but that's awful.

Thoughts with his family.

This is just horrible. Deepest sympathies to his family, and I'm sure from all Reading supporters. I hope the club arrange something for our next home game.

Horrendous.

Death of any 13 year old deserves sympathy.

'greed.
For somebody so young to be taken away is just heartbreaking. My thoughts go out to his family and we should think about contacting the club to ask them for a minutes applause/silence for this guy-even if we didn't know much about him. Deepest sympathies to his family and friends and everyone at the Academy.

just saw it on BBC news. my heart dropped when i looked at the picture in his Royals kit.

13 years is no age at all. is tragic regardless of who he is.

Condolences to his family.

November is peak time for canoeing and kayaking. Decent white water and rapid flow..... It is an assumed risk sport. Always sad when someone so young dies - but better to take risks than live in cotton wool.

Hopefully a minute's silence at the very least.

And before some smart arsed prick tries to twist my sentiments, that is meant in all sincerity and with no dig aimed at the club regarding the thread in Club Policies. This is neither the time nor the place.

So sad and so young.

He was a member of the Reading family, so even if I didn't know him personally, it feels worse knowing that this has happened to someone that close somehow. I hope the club do something on Saturday so that we can show our sympathy and support.
