The Half Way Stage, Looking Back

Some interesting threads from the summer, nothing proven yet mind.

browsing through those three, and to me Sciag seems to have it spot on, so far. Lots of posters did not seem to feel it was worth putting forward their views.

LOL at AP, Scarface, Bill Oddie, Strap, big Ern, Number 9, Lord Howe-Howe, Floyde_streete.

And to a lesser extent NSML and Baines

Glad to see you chaps are all enjoying your seasons much more than you expected to be. I hope we can still say that at the end of the season.

Oh yes, and an especially big LOL @ Royalee, who thought Derby would finish top because they'd made a load of signings.

Still chuckle over that "genius" making that prediction.

Erm, yes LOL indeed :|

My predictions for who was going up and down on the second thread are, at best, erm up and down but no less accurate at this halfway stage than, say, other regular posters such as Reading Bedding or From Despair To Where but I guess you must have your own little agenda. On the other thread I gave an inaccurate looking/disinterested prediction of 9th, but again some others who you neglect to mention forecast lower.

Do you know what? I am guessing you didn't even bother re-reading these threads - just had a pop at those you fancied. Fair play, whatever wiles away the long lonely hours for you. You are, for once quite correct however in saying that I am enjoying the season far more than I thought I would be. See you at Wembley?

You probably would tbf, just not home games :|

Having re read what i wrote on the original thread still very much stick with that. He started the season with no left back which led to some nonsense results like 4-2 at CHarlton, the signing of Armstrong has proven to be an excellent one, yet we still don't have that 'big striker' that Coppell likes so much and will still don't have ths triking options that the other 2 teams competing have. The big bonus has been Kebe who although hasn't been as brilliant as some say, has certainly been 100times better than I thought he was/would be. I said that I didn't fancy us to go up, well it would seem that the prediction of a playoff at best finish was probably a little out, but some of the arrogance would have you believe that promotion was a given. Despite 4 wins in a row we haven't broken the top 2 and again January could have a big bearing of the chance of a top 2 finish.

So yes I was probably slightly out in certain aspects of the prediction but not all, which is far greater than never sticking your neck out, laughing at others from the comfort of the armchair every week. 8)

Royalee Stick your money on Derby.

Assume you are joking.

If Jewell manages to sell his entire squad, buy a new team and even get the team to the play offs he deserves a medal. Derby have almost no chance next season IMO.

My top 6 would be Reading, Brum, Wolves, Palace , Sheff Unt and QPR - no idea what order though.

I posted this on 19th May in the "Reading Second favourites" to win the league thread.

Still think this may end up not being too far off.

I'm not sure whether I contributed to any of those threads, but I don't mind admitting that I've been wrong, wrong, wrong so far about our chances this season. I thought we'd get about 70 points and just miss out on the playoffs. My top 6 prediction was something like Brum, Derby, Burnley, Sheff U, QPR, Palace (although not in that order). Still,

Actually I did re-read them, well I got bored after page 1 of the 3rd one (my own  )
Just added the names of anyone who was pessimistically predicting a finish below play-offs.

If we go to Wembley I'm more than happy to meet you and buy you a pint. i used to really enjoy reading your posts, and i now enjoy having at least semi intelligent debates/arguments with you. :)

I did stick my neck out and make a prediction. Play offs certainly, possibly automatics, but I wouldn't be too upset with anything above 10th.

And I'm enjoying being able to get some revenge for the stick I got last season for my perfectly reasonable opinions that we'd stay up.

My armchair is certaily not comfortable and I'd much rather be at a game if i could arrange it.

I don't get it. Can someone please explain why it was unreasonable to predict a mid-table finish at the start of the season?

Ha ha ha. did you predict a mid-table finish? Ridiculous! What a cad! You joker!
Um, I don't know, it was a feasible finishing spot for us - I think there are just a lot of pricks on this site? I do think though, that many people based their opinions on the previous clubs to be relegated. Massively in our favour was that we didn't change our squad much and that is why we always stood a good chance of finishing in the top two. Anyhoo, there's still half a season to go, we've achieved nothing thus far.
