Actim Index

by moo » 21 Dec 2008 14:22

This was last updated 18/12, so doesnt include this weekends action, but our players are doing very nicely in the Actim index.

1. Kevin Doyle 521
2. Stephen Hunt 471
10. Liam Rosenior 343
12. Marcus Hahnemann 327
21. Noel Hunt 288
33. Jimmy Kebe 268
42. Chris Armstrong 255
47. Ivar Ingamarsson 247
85. Andre Bikey 213

It should be noted Hahnemann is rated as #1 goalie in the Championship and Rosenior is rated the third best defender.

Nice to see, although I'm somewhat puzzled that Harper isn't there what with all those things he supposedly does that we can't see.

To be fair I was expecting a comment like this - but our midfield pairings do change a lot so hardly a suprise that we dont have any central mids in the top 100

Decent point, but he's still the most favoured CM at the club and hasn't missed many games. You'd at least expect him to make the top hundred players given our league position and the quality of players around him.

Depends how you score points, he doesn't tackle a great deal, get assists or score many goals. Those are all fairly obvious and easy ways to score points.

Hunt @ No.2! proves this is another useless measure. What did he get points for? Running around a lot, and putting a dozen crosses into the stands every game

I'd imagine for having about 7 goals and a whole shed load of assists.

It's normal that he'd have alot of assists. We play a naturally wide game, and we're usually a dominant side, hence it's law of averages that someone will get on the end of his crosses eventually.

So what more from a winger other than goals and assists do you want exactly?

I want him to start beating the first man on his crosses more regularly! Then we'd walk this division. Hunt puts in 1 good cross in 4. Glen Little used to put in 9 good crosses in 10. Unfortunately the stats don't take this into account. That is why IMO this index is meaningless

I think some people expect too much after a couple of our recent seasons.

Yes that would potentially be another way of scoring points, but then we know Harper is very good at that from the stuff that comes out of the club, so I'd guess the points are weighted heavily towards goals and assists.

Our central midfielders don't do a lot of that part of the game. (Cisse is trying hard to prove me wrong on this one with his goals - interesting despite those and his alleged tackling skill that he isn't towards the top).

No, I just prefer to see midfielders complete more than 50% of passes - it means your team can keep the ball and build attacks which is a fundamental part of the game. People bitch and moan about Matejovsky giving the ball away too much when he attempts more challenging passes but Harper attempts nothing and still gives the ball away as much if not more. The guy can't even pass the ball to another player ten yards away from him. I lost count of the amount of times Harper hoofed the ball aimlessly to nobody and got caught out yesterday. I used to rate him at this level but with every game I'm beginning to think he's not even an average Championship midfielder.

No? Thought not.
