In honour of this great achievement, simply name your favourite player, past or present, and state why.

NB: this is not a thread for oneupmanship of who's been a fan the longest and all that.

For me, it's Graeme Murty. Like me, he's a top tryer and, hopefully like me, is a motivator through his actions - 'do as I do, not as I say...'

Long term fave player : Kevin Doyle - Superb, hard working player who gives one hundred per cent every game no doubt

Short term fave player : Chrissy Armstrong - Gives everything he has and is a superb defender. Ok pace and good on the ball.

He far less boring than you though.

Stuart Beavon, cos I got his autograph when he was warming up once and he was a nice amiable sort of bloke.

Glen 'The White Pele' Little. Brilliantly skilful winger who was for me the msot critical piece in the 05/06 jigsaw. Barely a left-back survived intact from 90 minutes of Little, he remains the best midfielder I have seen in a Reading shirt, and my favourite Reading player.

A close second is another winger, John Salako. Came to Reading apparently in the twilight of his career, and having barely started a game for three years and transformed our attack, proving the old cliche 'form is temporary, class is permanent'. Always gave 150% on the pitch, and developed a very genuine connection with the fans.

All time - Michael Gilkes - Met him, got his autograph 3 times ( :D ) and he was a nice and humble guy. Was a great player, best ever Reading FC left winger IMO.

This year - Jimmy Kebe - Reminds me of Gilkes. Still can improve, and hope he finds the net more often. But i think hes gifted, quick, and hopefully could progress to a very good player for the club.

Jimmy Cureton. An all round star, and of course for that goal at Brentford.

Hmmm, toughie. Was never one for favourites so one from Sidwell, Salako, Forster, Blakey and Sammy Igoe.

Sidwell for his quality and influence on the team and their collective mindset, Forster for hs exciting pace and some unforgetable goals, Blakey and Salako again for their sheer quality and game changing qualities and the fact that I used to be a winger, and Sammy Igoe for his touch and quality on the ball when we were playing in a league full of workhorses and hoofball. Would've loved to have seen Sammy play more in the Championship with us but I think he was just too small.

Gilkes - always exciting, and played the game as I would like to be able to.

One of my favourite recent memories is watching him make Gareth Barry look like a sunday league player in our home win in 06/07. Barry quite literally had no idea how to stop him.
