Sir Steve is God

by Gunny Fishcake » 02 Feb 2009 17:05

Nobody gone in the window , he just quietly gets on with things and is without doubt the best .

We now have the squad , we have the players , let's now kick on and get the job done .

I'm hoping Hunt isn't going to get a strop on because he's not as good as he thinks he is though. We can do without another "Shorey" this season.

The difference is that he has an opportunity to get back to where he thinks he belongs - and that's by playing well, not sulking!

Relief or Dissapointment?

by YateleyRoyal » 02 Feb 2009 17:12

Personally, I'm a little dissapointed that we havent signed anyone in anticipation of promotion, however am happy that Harper and SHunt are still here. Your thoughts?

Very satisfied. 2 decent players in playing where we have weaknesses and no-one major out. We are stronger than when window opened.

We can sign players for the Premier League if we need them, in the summer. That said, I'd love my club to be the ambitious one for a change, the one that makes that surprise signing, or spends a bit of money on an improvement to the current team.

Pleased Hunt and Harper are still with us, and they will be critical to us remaining in the top two.

Wouldn't have minded seeing either or both of Harper and Hunt go with a replacement for Hunt brought in. Very much 'meh'.

When he starts getting back on form in the next few weeks, it will prove to all those Shunt-hating nobbers that he is vital for our run in.

It's the Coppell way - he doesn't do 'gestures' and his transfer dealings have been the same for ages.

I'd have liked an extra striker, but the ones we have are doing OK.

Other teams have strengthend but now have to get those players fitted in straight away.

It's a gamble either way and we won;t know who got it right for a few months.

Has there been anything stunning from our rivals ?
Owusu-Abeyie to Cardiff is all I can think of.

Barre to Wolves, Chopra to Cardiff, Nothing massive really.

Chopra will be very very useful for Cardiff's promotion push

Must say by CCC standards, those are 2 high profile signings that ought to do very well in this league. Chopra proven at this level, and especially at Cardiff, and Berra is very highly thought of and at 24 got time on his side.

Indeed, another thread questioned Cardiff's strength in depth. They've gone some way to addressing that.

I'm gutted, but I hope you're right.

I like eating humble pie with a side order of promotion.

Given their combined performance against QPR, and Coppell's permanent resistance to dropping them, I was rather hoping they would be gone by tonight.
