Charlton - Back From The Game...

by Thou Voice » 10 Mar 2009 22:16

...we were shit.

We could not string many passes together and looked like we didn't care in the last 1/3rd of the game, playing as if we had it in the bag.

Little was great first half, looked knackered second. He was a positive for us.

We were VERY lucky the ref at one point didn't give Charlton a pen straight after ours, that would have been 2-2 much earlier.

Thank oxf*rd other teams around us drew or lost.

Coppell is running out of "Get Out Of Jail - Do Not Pass Spot Three In The Table - Do Not Win Matchs" cards.

Roll on Saturday.

Right I am now convinced the result hinges on whether I go or not. Being in Sheff means I've only made 5 home games and we've won all but the cardiff draw and I've seen us win in all 5 away games I've been to. I feel we are throwing away this season now, we are far from ready to go up. I thought we could easily take this league but obv we ent bothered about it anymore

Oh well... unbeaten in 3... At least we are managing to find the net, somehow.

Hopefully Kits can do a job on Saturday. Hopefully.

Little was NOT great in the first half. Who were you watching? He did ok, but seemed to cut in at the halfway line oh too often and we had feck all down the right.

The team performance was utter gash. Hoof... player waves frantically for ball, he gets it...HOOF. Player passes ball, gives it away...again. Bollocks.

We cannot go up, we're a oxf*rd embarrassment.
We cant stay down, all our top players will leave.
Ergo we are destined to stay forever more in a perpetual state spinning around on our own between the Premiership and the Championship.
Still, will save Sir John a few bob.

Individually and as a team not good enough. But then again no one in this crap league is.

Depressed.

I disagree.

He was good in the first half - especially when lined up against the rest of the team that were out there.

Little was good but not great. He found his man with 95% of passes but we didn't see him take anyone on with a mazy run. Fair play to Long, he had good game and should have perhaps done better when he ran right through in the first half and then tried to cut back only for his last touch to let him down.

Hunt was absolutely abysmal! His worst game in a Reading shirt by a distance I reckon. Could pass 5 yards and hit the post when it was far easier to score. Was delighted to see him go though I didn't cheer his substitution like many Reading fans. Marek was dogshit as well. He just could not do anything right tonight and I'm yet to see him do the business at home all season. Federici looked rather shaky all game. Doobs was cack. Pearce was poor. Doyle did nothing and Tabb looks like Convey, only a foot smaller. IHe loked frightened to take people on and was muscled out of it. Fair play to hi for getting up after Duberry pole axed him though. No one else stood out for me in a positive or a negative way. the quality of football made it a boring game all round really.

I will be organising a "Put Marcus Back In Goal" car park rally. AT least he commands his goal line.

Well that was pure, unadulterated shyte!!

Too many players lacking passion, commitment and, in some cases, even basic skill.

Aimless effing hoofball with the ball spending far more time in the air than on the pitch. Tactics? What tactics? Oh, throw all your forwards on in desperation (once again) at the end.

Coppell on the radio afterwards saying he never felt comfortable about the way we were playing!! Well you're the effing manager, do something to change it. Still, at least he now has 'the most competitive squad I've had since I've been at the club'!! Big sodding deal when, despite that competitive squad he rarely changes anyone who isn't performing well enough.

Make no mistake, there were two appalling teams on the pitch tonight, plus equally shyte officials. However, ask someone not familiar with the Championship who was highest up the table and they would have said it was Charlton!

I've been teasing my Watford supporting colleagues that they are only training up Brendan Rodgers ready for his return to RFC and, on recent performances, that may not be a bad idea.

On the basis of tonight's performance, that season ticket renewal offer is looking more like a p*ss take than a good deal.

What other special offers are they going to have to come up with to tempt casuals in for the rest of the home games this season?

Bring a friend along half-price? Only if you want to spoil your friendship!!

This is not a piss take reply here at all - even tho it sounds like it!!!

Do you remember the one they had in the first year of ther Premiership?

I don't remember the excat details, but I swear you could buy a plaque or something for the back of your seat that you were then allowed to remove and keep at the end of the season? (not the Brick in the wall scheme or the Premiership bricks)

I have never seen any one of these on seats and I would expect if they were, the London Irish fans would rip them off as they're allow achocol and we're not - so I'm lead to believe.

Was I high on crack and remembering something that never happened, or did they have that crackpot scheme?

Pearce got caught out and had to concede the freekick that led to their second goal though.

Doobs is making more and more mistakes, needs replacing, IMO. Pearce was solid enough

Shane had a very good game, Doyle passable, but lacking spark. Cisse was OK, Marek patchy.

Fullbacks were OK, Armstrong good but they left-back combined defence got badly suckered for the first Charlton goal

SHunt had a bad game, Tabb looked MUCH better, as good as SHunt at his best IMO (and he's a gutsy little bugger)

I was disappointed with Glen Little. He did a few OK things first half, seemed to work well enough with Rosy, but it took me w whi=ile to realise that every time it was ROSY going on the run rather than the winger. That was far side to me, so I wanted to get a better view in the second half.

Frankly, in the second half I thought Little was a passenger. Their left back was having a field day because Little couldn't go with him. Rosy was having to pick up the overlapping FB, Little was sort of wandering back to say ten yards outside the area and pointing a bit. God knows where the RW was, but Rosy couldn't mark him. We played with ten men for most of that half.

I know some on here hate Kebe but who else actually BEATS a man? We missed him tonight.

We've got lucky again with Cardiff losing and Birmingham/Wolves drawing, but one cock-up now when the others win and the gap will suddenly be huge. If we beat Ipswich (big IF) we'll still be on two points a game for March...

Bikey needs to be restored to that team instead of Doobs- look at how many game's we've won with either one in the team to see the difference. Shunt needs to be dropped for good and Kitson needs to come into that team
