A Mad Stad First?????

by Matt de K » 11 Mar 2009 13:09

Can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet, but wasn't last night the first time ever that a ball has left the Mad Stad, completely, and not come back?? I deffos can't remember it ever happening before and I've been to most games at the Mad Stad

I remember Sonko hoofing one out, and it nearly going out, but hit one of the supporting girders on the top of the roof and bounced back in.

Anyway, at least it took my mind off the shite, that was last night, for a few minutes

I did remember thinking this at the time, but to be honest, I've tried to erase last night's events from memory.

I'd forgotten that.

You could hear it bouncing down off the roof like distant thunder.

wasn't one of the local take aways offering a free fish and chip supper for the first player to achieve it?

That keeper looked as though he already knew about the takeaway offer...maybe he tries it and has been successful at a number of grounds...carrying a fair bit of timber was the young lad

It is a first I reckon but I missed it. When did it happen?

I'm 99.8% sure Sonko did it during one game, and was the only player to do so until last night. Sonks was probably trying to pass to Shorey, I forget exactly how.

One of their players went down like a sack of shit shortly after they'd equalised (no doubt time wasting), so Elliot spudded the ball so high into touch that it went onto the East Stand roof and rolled down to outside the stadium.

He cleared the roof - but it came back off the girder and back onto the pitch.

Last night I was expecting it to come back over with some scrumptious cold onions & cheese

Good memory!

From HNA? match report: "Other than that, the highlight of the half was a Sonko clearance hitting the roof of the East Stand, which to my knowledge is a first at the Madejski Stadium!"

So, did it just hit the roof, or go out of the stadium off Sonko? I thought it was the latter but may well be wrong, in which case last night was a first.

Ha, that's why I left that 0.2% chance in there :)

I was sure it hit the underside of the roof?

I guess we're betting without Gareth Barry's pen for Villa last season, which could yet land outside the stadium when it eventually returns to earth.

I don't think they have. Sonks', as has been said, came back down. As for Murts - no way.

I mentioned this as soon as it happened and people around me (who I've sat near since that opening Luton game, agreed; Last night was the first time

It hit the floodlights once, either Sonko or Adie Williams... can't remember which, they both look so alike.

i am pretty sure Dave Kitson did it, i think we had just scored and then he just grabbed the ball and booted up out over the north stand!

Was either in our promotion season or first year in prem!

That was against QPR on the last day of the season, and it was in the South Stand, and it didn't leave the ground.

Techers.
