The shortest you've ever had to travel to a RFC game

by Thaumagurist* » 27 Mar 2009 16:59

I once lived somewhere just off Oxford Road in the summer of 1997, it was just a simple walk down to Elm Park. That was the closest and shortest trip I've ever taken.

Shortest journey was probably when we played Slough Town in the FA Cup 1st Round back in November of 1991.I can still remember to the day adie williams breaking his nose then scoring the equaliser to earn a replay back at Elm Park, we also wore one of my favourite away shirts of my generation the red and white arrows shirt.

For me this would probably be when I lived in Reading and went to a home game at the Mad Stad.

78 Waverley Road. Left out of gate, down the road, left, hang a right into TE turnstile. 3 minutes at most. Beauty of being sent to live with your dear old nan as your parents have had enough of your bad behaviour.

Might just have that beat. 11 Rutland Road and prior to that 25 Prince of Wales Avenue.

Nil distance when staying in the Madejski hotel before the match. (Clever tw*t. No, just a tw*t, actually.)

Used to live on other side of Prospect Park from Elm Park - 5 mins walk.

Palace is nearest championship ground now - Brighton nearest league ground - although Crawley Town would be nearer if they make it out of the conference.

Sorry lads and lasses I fail to understand why this thread has lasted so long. Surely there's got to be more interesting stuff going on in the land of RFC?

In the old days I only had a 5 minute walk from my parents house in Southcote across Prospect Park to the ground. This season my shortest journey was to Bristol City away as I only live 8 miles from Ashton Gate.
