Sheff U - Watch on Tele or go to the game?

by Thames » 09 Apr 2009 14:06

Due to our substandard performances in recent months, I really can't be bothered to go to the Sheff U game, despite having a season ticket.

Some m8's and I are having a Good Friday drinking session in town so will probably just watch it on TV and get drunk.

Anyone else thinking of sacking the game off?

I'd planned not to go about a week ago and just watch it on TV but i'm going because of the GU1 thing.

I do that with most away games, I say to myself I won't go but then end up going anyway despite wasting a lot of money travelling to away games this year...

The only thing tempting me not to go is the negative attitude of so many of our fans. But I shall turn up anyway.

Anyone who made the effort to get to Coventry can stay away with a clean conscience.

Right now, I'm struggling to find one good reason to attend and will definately work tomorrow should an opportunity present itself.

Not for the first time this season, my seat and expensive parking space will almost certainly not be used.

Phew.

I'm not going. It was the realisation that I haven't enjoyed a single game at the MadStad this calendar year, coupled with the Cov experience.

Best thread I've read in weeks.

I will be going tomorrow. I'd go whether we were top, 4th, 24th. I am a Reading FC fan, and
that is what fans do. So when I read a thread that some ' half hearted gloom merchants' are NOT
going to go...FANTASTIC.... made my day.
Enjoy your beer in town,

Sorry for being sufficiently loyal to buy a seat for the whole season regardless of whether I use it for every game.

Sorry for being sufficently loyal to have already bought the same seat for next season despite the utter sh*te being dished up by our current manager.

PS. Many thanks to SKY for giving thoroughly p*ssed off Reading fans the option of watching this game at home.

Which actually makes Woodcote a superfan because he's paying twice for the pleasure of watching.

No.

It just makes accusations of me lacking loyalty to the club pathetic.

Why would a fairweather fan have already bought his seat for next season AND bothered to make trips to both Coventry and Plymouth this season given the appauling football that we've been treated to this year?

Sebastian If the renewal deadline had been after the Cov game I wouldn't have renewed

I'm still going on Friday , though. Although, I actually really, really don't want to.

Had that feeling a lot this year.
I've only missed Sheffield Wednesday away though this year because i had work

Only reason I am not going on Friday is I am away for easter in Norfolk with the missus and her family who live up there. However they will be ditched come Fri evening for a local pub, and someone else would be making good use of my season tickets in my absence. I know they haven't played great this year, but the thought of not going to games based just on that fact doesn't sit right with me, we've got to back our boys through thick and thin.

Exactly, the way some of our fans moan you wouldn't think we were 4th and very much in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Agreed. I miss many matches because I go to uni in Leeds but when I'm back down south and only 2 hours or so away I try and make every Saturday game regardless of how bad we are. If you go to awful matches you appreciate the good times much more. Think about the definition of the word "support". If you only choose to go to matches when we're playing well then you're clearly not a supporter.

If only the true meaning of the word was fully understood by those who wish to define it.

I would not pay the best part of £50 to get there, attend and get drunk enough to watch.
