Flair

by SteveRoyal » 12 Apr 2009 13:26

I was watching The Championship (ITV sh*t) this morning, watched just the Championship highlights, but it occurred to me that almost every team that played had a flair player - someone who was willing to get on the ball, run forward and try and create something; someone that had tricks in the bag and did something out of the ordinary; someone who would actually do something that entertained the fans.

Then I look at our squad and think "Who do we have that does that kind of thing?"
The simple answer is, nobody.
The closest we have to flair is Bikey, and he's an oxf*rd defender.
Maybe, if we had a bit more flair in the team then we'd be doing better than we are now.

Definitions of flair on the Web:

* a natural talent; "he has a flair for mathematics"; "he has a genius for interior decorating"
* dash: distinctive and stylish elegance; "he wooed her with the confident dash of a cavalry officer"
* impressive flair in the way something is done, especially a quality that suggests a self-confident willingness to exhibit skill or good taste

Marek isn't really flair. He doesn't have the high energy levels and dominating presence a lot of the flair players in other teams have.
He's creative, I'll give you that.

All I see at the moment is despair.

Someone tell the players we've got no chance of going up, tell them the pressure is off and get back to basics. Have some fun.

Forbury Lion Have some fun.

That's what it's all about now, isn't it?
I mean, there's less chance of us making the Premiership, so I think they should relax now and get back to basics.

They must believe they are already in the play-offs, that might take the pressure off. I expect 5 great performances

Oh Lord, Snowball's back. Armed with blind faith rather than useless stats. We're saved.

What's bizarre is that they started so well.

We have started OK before, scored and gone on to grab a bag-ful

We have started OK, failed to score, let one in, then panicked when 0-1 down.

But how many times have we thrown away a 2-0 lead?

Kebe was supposed to be our flair....but flair needs an end product ( one time in four say..not twice a season)

New lows with every game Snowball.

Somehow, from somewhere, we've got to get one more win to secure a play off place and then start praying, big time.

I can't see that we have done this at all under Coppell. Might have missed one, but just checked back, couldn't find a 2-0 lead that didn't result in a win.
