So long era. It was a good one.

Bring on the next one, perhaps the 'era of the academy coming good'.

That would be very welcome, who knows.
I feel like singing...'Although we've come...to the end of the Road, still I can't let go...'

The RFC history books will be very, very kind to the last few years.

Things will pan out over the next few months, some suprising, some not so.
But they're all heroes in my eyes!

players who cost us in the last few crunch games

hahnmann, not good enough anymore, get rid...he goes to ground like a sack of potatoes, no spring/agility/athleticism
rosenior-absolutely useless, talks a good game but that's about it, no touch, no ability to read the game, can't pass, can't head, can't tackle, what the fcuk is he doing in the team, all he does is run up and down a lot and generally get in the way/give the ball away, if we get 100k or more for this donkey i'd bite your arm off

other than that i am sure we will round on the usual suspects, kebe isn't as bad as people think, i'd retain him as a squad player, shunt and doyler will be off, if we get 10 million for the two that's good business, lita and bikey will go and to be honest as their attitudes and temperments are seriously in question then the sooner the better as far as i'm concerned, also please don't buy kitson although if glenda little gets fit i'd keep him on

plus points go to battlers like tabb and gunnar, we'll need them next season, marek needs to add some steel to his undoubted quality, harding/armstorng both are just fine as left back options, doobs should be just a squad player next seaosn, ideally i want ingi andp pearce there

now is time to sell the failures and primadonnas who have cost us and get the young hungry academy players in....a silver lining of sorts

harper, murty and long can all leave too, their mediocrity bores me, yes it is finally time to give the kids a chance

my team for next season

ben hamer

julian kelly ingi pearce harding or armstrong

henry karcan tabb gylfi

church noel hunt

subs
andersen
robsen-kanu
marek
davies
mooney

cisse and gunnar as utility squad players who can fill in for a variety of postions when needed

Don't know what will happen myself, a new manager wanting to give everyone a fair crack of the whip and seeing of what they are capable worries me (mind you if they are capable of turning Kebe into a footballer with an end product they are capable of anything).

Goalkeeper

Time for a change, persoannlyI think Id gou out and buy a keeper with a bit of quality and experience and keep Federici as the number two and if he wants to move on as a result promote Hamer to that role.

Defence

Needs a little bit of pruning; keep

Armstrong
Pearce
Ingimarsson
Rosenior
Kelly
Harding (assuming Roy Keane doesn't want him)
and add a quality ball playing centere half

Midfield

As things currently stand we need to sort out our midfield there are far too many players all of whom offer us not very much it seems! Therefore I would keep

Tabb
Sigurdsson
Matejovsky
Karacan
and look to add a quality player who can at last replace Sidwell.

Wingers

Whether these remain a bog part of our game remains to be seen but personally it would be nioce to have some! Keep

Henry

Strikers

Not been too happy with the standard of forwards this season, need to stengthen in this area. Therefore I would suggest keeping

Church
Doyle (if possible)
Hunt (N)
Robson-Kanu

Of the remaining chaps, think I might be tempted to give Bikey another chance as a utility providing cover at centre back and midfield but the rest I'd get rid of (assuming anyone wants to buy of course)

Next season is going to be harder than this with an Ipswich throwing money about like there's no tomorrow, people just wanting to play for Middlesbrough for nowt cos they're the name and the likes of WBA, Cardiff, Swansea, Hull, QPR and Preston all banging on the door

Very thorough, I can agree with most of it.. personally my list would be:

Get rid/leave:
Hahneman [say goodbye]
Murty [legend but passed it]
Boris [good midfield but passed it]
Leroy [maybe another chance with new manager, but attitude probs. probably get rid]
Shunt [bye]
Kebe [lol]
Duberry [good defender but passed it]

On the fence:
Harper [if we can get a sidwell type player to return him back to his quality self.. otherwise.. leave]
Rosenior [talks the talk but can he walk the walk?]
Bombscare [no idea what to do]

Must keep:
Stretch
Doyle
Noel
Long [much improved]

Rest:
stay or go

I see us needing desperately:
1 solid striker
1 solid attacking midfielder (sidwell role)
2 solid wingers
2 solid central defenders

We really need to establish a midfield. There are always bright little sparks where they are almost good enough, but far too easy will get run over. Fix our midfield problems and that will be most of the work. IMO. Easier than said on FM.

The shame of it all is LOLong and Kebe will still be here next season, and probably be 'star' players. :|

GK - USA has reached the end of the line here. Let Federici and Hamer compete in pre-season and if they're not good enough bring somebody else in.

RB - Rosenior is quick, good going forward and passionate. He's not perfect but I'm convinced he's good enough for us. Kelly can provide competition.

CB - Doobs is old, slow and he just resorts to hoof. How did he ever play for Chelsea and Leeds? Time's up. Ivar should stay, still our best CB. I'm hoping Bikey will now be well known for his red cards and moments of madness. As a result, we'll be able to keep hold of him. Pearce is a future captain and hopefully a starter next season. Finally, Sodje has had a great loan at Leeds and a new manager could mean a new start for him. I think he's good enough to compete.

LB - Armstrong fine. Sign up Harding, his contract is out.

Altogether the permanent signing of Harding is all I want to see along the back. Roy Keane could get in the way there.

RM - Kebe? Inconsistent, he's also better on the left. Still a squad player though. Henry should step up now in my view. We'll need one more right winger. Any suggestions?

CM - Tabb excellent. Karacan good. Cisse capable, he had a great run of form earlier in the season. I think Harper is one of the players who has been dragged down by the nerves and negativity of the old era, it's time for him to move on. Bryn can offer cover and experience, he was solid in both Burnley games. I'd love to keep Matejovsky. If we do, the centre is sorted. However, I have to be realistic. We will probably lose him. We'll need another playmaker. Lallana (is that his name) at Southampton looks promising, and any reasonable bids for Southampton players will surely be accepted.

LM - Get Hunt out. I'm sick of him. Kebe is inconsistent but dangerous. I think he can and will improve. Tabb belongs in the centre - end of. We need another left winger. Surman is surely a realistic target, at a relegated club who are in administration.

ST - Long is finally looking like he could come good. N Hunt is a great striker at this level who I expect to keep, although a promoted side or lower Premiership side may consider him worth a punt. I'd love to see Doyle stay, but no. He deserves another shot at the Premiership and I'll always have good memories of him. Lita's contract will run and he must be sick of this club by now. I think Mooney is capable, he was good for a poor Norwich side. That'll leave Mooney, Long and probably N Hunt. You never know, we could have Doyle too. Church will benefit from another loan season in my view. So we'd need 1 more striker. I'd like to continue in the theme of pillaging Southampton and going for McGoldrick, he had a very good season. Another option is bringing back Simon Cox. However there are plenty of alternatives here. You get a lot of strikers who can do a job in the Championship.

A stumbling block I'm aware of is that Surman and Lallana could well have plenty of suitors, but I'd be surprised if any Premiership clubs are after them and I hope we can compete with other Championship clubs.
